Hey, here’s a great idea: take a bad 70’s TV show or movie and remake it with the hottest teen stars you can find. I think what the problem is the people making these remakes don’t have any connection to the original thing. That is, until now! Production has commenced on location in New Mexico, Arizona, Utah and Colorado on Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer Films’ epic adventure The Lone Ranger. Once known as the enfant terrible of cinema writer and director Harmony Korine has gone from shocking us with unknown and non-actors in scenes of worlds we didn’t know existed in independent underground cult classics to doing the same thing on a much grander scale using giant Hollywood style productions and starring some of the biggest names in the business. Composer Danny Elfman had fans seriously worried by claiming The Simpsons is ending soon. But now one of its producers wants to reassure everybody that this isn’t the case. On the Thanksgiving holiday, producer Al Jean took to Twitter to officially respond to the headlines generated by Elfman’s comments that the show was preparing to enter its final year. “We are all thankful the following article is NOT TRUE,” Jean says in a tweet, accompanied by an article about the show’s rumored cancellation....

The Woman King was recently released in theaters to critical and commercial acclaim. Indeed, Viola Davis’ new movie exceeded expectations, per CNN, raking in higher than predicted numbers at the box office during its opening weekend. This comes a week after the film made its world premiere at TIFF 2022, where it was hailed as one of Davis’ strongest performances to date. The traditional horror genre has evolved over past decades for various reasons, and is now in a trend deemed ’elevated horror’ for being so popular and critically lauded. Fascination associated with horror stems from a deep infatuation with simulation experience — watching these terrifying and horrific acts on-screen can evoke a physical and mental simulation within the viewer’s state of mind. This is a huge part as to why many yell at the screen during the build-up of an ultimate kill or the chase of a victim; viewers are immersed into this world to the point where they feel as if they’re actually in the scene and those characters can somehow hear their warnings....

Variety reports that Warner Bros. is being sued by Threshold Entertainment for alleged breach of contract over development of a third Mortal Kombat film. Threshold filed suit Tuesday in Los Angeles. They are charging Warner Bros. with “failing to cooperate and respond to Threshold and seeking to cut out Threshold.” Warner Bros. had no comment. According to Threshold attorney Peter C. Bierne it is the third suit filed by the company over the property....

The Good Packed with laughs and extras this set really does Chris Farley proud. The Bad A bit confusing trying to access everything that is offered on this 2 disc set. I had never seen Tommy Boy or any of the other Chris Farley movies, so it was with great enthusiasm and a little trepidation that I took on the task of reviewing, Tommy Boy - Holy Schnike Edition. Well, while I don’t think this film needs to be put in a special place with the best movies ever made, and it certainly won’t be added to a time capsule so that future generations (or species) can learn about us hundreds of years from now, Tommy Boy - Holy Schnike Edition was pretty darn good....

Twisters, the sequel to 1996’s Twister, appears to be moving forward. Deadline reports that the project, which comes from Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment, has planned a Spring 2023 start date for the movie’s production, but this is dependent on finding a director. It was previously reported that Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick) was on board to helm the movie, written by Mark L. Smith (The Revenant), though the director has since left the project to focus on his upcoming Formula One racing movie with Brad Pitt....

Spider-Man fans will get a long-awaited sneak peek at Columbia Pictures’ highly anticipated motion picture Spider-Man 3 when a new, full-length, two-and-a-half minute trailer debuts in a special unprecedented “road block” across Viacom Inc.’s brands and on the CBS Television Network on Thursday, November 9, at approximately 10:00 pm. Spider-Man 3, starring Tobey Maguire and directed by Sam Raimi, kicks off next summer’s moviegoing season on May 4, 2007. The television networks airing the new trailer include BET, CBS, Comedy Central, Logo, MTV, MTV2, Spike TV and VH1, with each supporting the event with custom promotions both on-air and online....

The Unsolved Mysteries reboot is officially happening at Netflix with the original creators and Stranger Things executive producer Shawn Levy. The original series was hosted by Robert Stack and ran from 1987 to 2010 with an impressive 500 episodes. Show creators John Cosgrove and Terry Dunn Meurer revealed in the summer of 2017 that they were developing new episodes and talking to networks about picking up the iconic show. At the time, they expected to begin production that year....

Despite having a great 2006, it was Warner Bros. Home Video and not Buena Vista Home Entertainment who had the biggest market share. In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, it seems that movies like Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire helped give Warner Bros. an 18.4% market share. Buena Vista Home Entertainment was a close second with 16.1%. They had films like Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, & The Wardrobe to help propel them into that position....

This week’s episode of The Simpsons, “Days of Future Future”, airing Sunday, April 13, also happens to coincide with the Season 7 premiere of Mad Men on AMC. Fox is paying an homage, of sorts, to the hit drama series, with a new preview that employs the same vague style of Mad Men’s teasers, showing a series of dramatic yet unrelated clips from next week’s episode.
