Let me begin this review with full disclosure … I’m from Boston! I was born there, I was raised there and I went to College there so to say that I have affection for the city and an understanding of the people that live in that community is an understatement. The same can be said for actor/writer/director Ben Affleck. I was in College when Affleck and his lifelong friend Matt Damon first hit the scene with their award winning breakthrough film “Good Will Hunting,” which earned them each an Oscar for best screenplay....

After a semi-intense episode of The Walking Dead, mainly focused on digging out if Eugene’s loyalties lie with the Saviors or the Survivors, The Walking Dead has set itself for a massive episode next week, which will in turn be the season 8 midseason finale. The big guns, traps are set, and the Saviors continue to prove themselves as the toughest enemy Rick and company have ever faced. In the sneak peak clip, Maggie and Jesus plan the final stages of the war against the Saviors when they come upon a fallen tree, which Maggie suspects could only have come from the Saviors....

Howdy folks. After a week of new columns and technical difficulties, I’m back in business with The Week in Review. So lets not make haste and start off with this week’s Notables. NOTABLES “Shia LaBeouf Set for Disturbia” - Monday, March 13 I’ve been a pretty big fan of LaBeouf since seeing his wonderful performance in the 2nd Project Greenlight flick, The Battle of Shaker Heights. I was hoping he’d get more starring roles after that, but it seems like he’s been relegated to smallish roles in bigger movies (See: Constantine, I, Robot), but I guess he’s ready to take the reins now, which I think is great....

The second season of the hit-fantasy series The Witcher just arrived on Netflix last month, but it now seems that the streaming service is already moving forward to begin production on the show’s third season sooner than expected. According to Redanian Intelligence, pre-production for The Witcher season 3 is set to start this month, and begin filming sometime in early March. Before season 2 had even premiered on Netflix, it was revealed that the scripts for season 3 had already been written....

The new trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder just dropped this week, and fans are incredibly excited. Not only was this our first full look at Christian Bale playing Gorr the God Butcher but also our first good shot of Russell Crowe as Zeus. Not to mention a little look at the relationship between Thor and Jane Foster. But aside from all the core story, we get a few Easter eggs, hints at possibilities of future marvel projects, and looks into connections with other heroes....

The iconic actor talks about finishing season two this summer and returning for season three in the fall Acclaimed Fox series Lie to Me returns to finish off its second season starting June 7th with the all-new Episode 2.11: Wish You Were Here. It will be followed by eight more episodes before returning in the fall for season three. On Wednesday, the defense team called on another family member to testify before a jury in the Todd and Julie Chrisley fraud trial. This time, it was the mother of the family patriarch Todd Chrisley. Elizabeth “Nanny Faye” Chrisley told the jury that she was not aware exactly how her son and daughter-in-law were using her name on financial records. The 78-year-old added that she doesn’t read documents before signing them, and she forgets things....

Feel-good movies have a way of helping audiences forget about all of the stressful, negative, and burdensome aspects of their daily lives. This was especially the case in the 2000s when the loom of terrorism, global warming, and economic recession seemed to inflict emotional pain and stress on everyone in the US. For many, movies were a sort of salve with which they could escape (even if only for a temporary period)....

More than two months have passed since Top Gun: Maverick debuted in theaters, but the Tom Cruise blockbuster refuses to budge from the box office charts. Top Gun: Maverick has now flown past Titanic at the domestic box office, earning $662 million in total till now and outgrossing the James Cameron epic’s initial theatrical run and the 3-D re-release. USA Network will air an extended sixty-second sneak peek for the new Quentin Tarantino feature film Inglourious Basterds during the Burn Notice season three summer finale on Thursday, August 6th between 9-10pm ET. Inglourious Basterds, directed by Tarantino, opens in theatres Friday, August 21st starring Brad Pitt, Samuel L. Jackson, Diane Kruger and Mike Myers. Burn Notice continues to dominate the television landscape in its third season as the #1 scripted cable series in both P18-49 & P25-54 in 2009, delivering series highs week after week....

VH1 is ringing in 2008 with a full slate of new premieres and returning series. For the first time VH1 will air The Broadcast Film Critics Association’s (BFCA) Critics’ Choice Awards, and will also premiere the new series Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew. Rock of Love with Bret Michaels and Scott Baio is 46 … and Pregnant both return for second seasons while My Fair Brady … Maybe Baby returns for a third season....

The National Football League has gone Hollywood. According to Variety, they will be producing a biopic about legendary Green Bay Packers coach Vince Lombardi. The film will be entitled, simply, Lombardi. This is the first time the NFL has ever gotten directly involved in a major motion picture. They will be producing the film with Andrew Hauptman’s Andell Entertainment and Chris Olsen. It is not known at this time if the NFL will actually finance the picture, but it does mean that filmmakers will have access to Lambeau Field, and the NFL will help greatly in the promotion of the finished product....

AMC has released two brand-new posters for Season 9 of The Walking Dead as well as the second half of Season 4 of Fear the Walking Dead. The new posters arrive as details about the presence of the hit franchise’s appearance at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con were announced. The cast and producers of The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead will appear in Hall H on Thursday, July 19th starting at 11:15 AM Pacific Time....

Although there has been very little official information about it, Marvel Studios’ Werewolf by Night Halloween Special is certainly getting a lot of attention, and a new Moon Knight featurette has again brought another tease for one of the other supernatural Marvel characters heading to the MCU. Werewolf by Night is rumored to make an appearance in Moon Knight, and although Oscar Isaac has made it clear that the new series will not rely on a lot of Marvel Easter eggs, that doesn’t mean it won’t introduce a few future teases and lead-ins....

Westerns have been an enduring and beloved part of movies and literature for a long time now. There seems to be a romanticism linked to this genre that never gets old. However, there can sometimes be confusion as to what actually constitutes a Western. This problem usually arises because of a subgenre of Westerns known as revisionist Westerns. Among Western purists, revisionist Westerns are not always appreciated as they tend to subvert traditional norms associated with more classical Westerns....

Everyone loves a classic ’80s movie, and there’s always something for everyone – everything from Star Wars to Dirty Dancing. As classic and beloved as these movies often are, the stories they tell aren’t bound by their production date. The characters and plots hold up into the modern-day (save for some lingo, like the ever-quoted “neo maxi zoom dweebie”). With the recent resurgence of the Star Wars movies and spin-offs, as well as the upcoming Indiana Jones 5, it leaves a lot of opportunities for other ’80s movies and franchises to make a comeback and gain a new generation of adoring audiences....

The CW’s Batwoman series has cast Rachel Maddow as Vesper Fairchild. Maddow is best-known for her work as an MSNBC host. While Maddow will be featured on the upcoming show, she will not be seen. Fairchild is a television and radio personality who had a romantic relationship with Bruce Wayne in the comics, so it seems like she will be more of a radio personality in the series, which stars Ruby Rose....

Lionsgate has announced that young actors Sam Ly and Leigha Hancock have landed roles in The Hunger Games. The actors will portray the unnamed tributes of District 7. Take a look at these new cast members below. Only Districts 2, 8, 9, and 10 remain to be cast in The Hunger Games, although at this rate, the tributes may all be cast within a week or two. Gary Ross will direct The Hunger Games from a screenplay by Billy Ray, which is adapted from the novel by Suzanne Collins....
