Matthew McConaughey made a heartfelt plea for gun reform at the White House on Tuesday afternoon, speaking to reporters in the briefing room about his experiences meeting with the families of the Robb Elementary School shootings that rocked the actor’s hometown of Uvalde, Texas on May 24. The briefing followed a meeting between McConaughey, his wife Camila, and President Joe Biden, Deadline reports. The actor, who has been on the ground with his community since the tragedy that killed nineteen students and 2 teachers, was almost in tears as he spoke in tribute to the victims and shared personal stories....

HBO’s Watchmen TV series is dangerously close to becoming a reality, as the network has announced the first wave of casting for the upcoming adaptation. Regina King (The Leftovers), Don Johnson (Miami Vice), Tim Blake Nelson (Monster), Louis Gossett Jr. (Roots), Adelaide Clemens (Rectify) and Andrew Howard (Outpost) have all been announced for the show, which has been given a pilot order by HBO. King will play the lead, but it’s unclear at the present time who she, or any of the other cast members will be portraying....
Sony Pictures has moved the upcoming action-thriller White House Down up from November 1, 2013 to June 28, 2013. The project will be competing against Fox’s comedy The Internship, and Universal’s R.I.P.D. next June. It would be going up against Summit’s Ender’s Game if it would have stayed in the November 1 frame. White House Down stars Channing Tatum as a Secret Service agent who must take action when a paramilitary group takes everyone in the White House hostage....
Ted K is an anxiety-inducing character study of one of America’s most notorious criminals, Ted Kaczynski, aka the “Unabomber.” Kaczynski is played by South African actor and District 9 star Sharlto Copley. Copley nails Kaczynski’s look and nasally voice, proving him to be a great casting choice for the role of the madman. The film borrows from Kaczynski’s actual writing, using it to supply the majority of the film’s dialogue. Additionally, the film was shot on the land that Kaczynski had built his cabin on....
The Dark Knight on DVD just means records in a different venue will be broken. According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Dark Knight handily swept the national DVD sales, rentals and Blu-ray sales charts, for the week ending December 14. The disc sold more than 10 million units in stores, plus another 3.5 million to rental outlets, which also includes a record-breaking 1.7 million Blu-ray units sold. The disc’s first-week sales also were good enough to place it as the second highest-selling DVD of the year, just behind Iron Man, although it is expected to eclipse that title by week’s end....

Marvel’s Monica Rambeau gained some unexpected superpowers during the events of WandaVision, and now the character will be teaming up with Captain Marvel and Ms. Marvel in next year’s The Marvels. However, as yet, the newly powered-up super-heroine doesn’t have her all-important “made-up” name, as Peter Parker would call it, in the MCU. Summit Entertainment, a Lionsgate company, announced today that the home entertainment release of the current installment in the studio’s blockbuster Twilight Saga film franchise, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 sold an estimated 3.2 million DVD and Blu-ray units during its first weekend of release. DVD sales for the film, which became available at retail this past Saturday night at 12:01 a.m., are approximately 18% ahead of the opening weekend of the third film in the franchise, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, demonstrating continued demand and vibrancy of the Twilight Saga....

Spoiler Warning: Thor: Love and Thunder At times, Thor: Love and Thunder, the most recent installment in the God of Thunder’s solo films, was downright hilarious. The actor follows his own blood trail right to our front door It’s Saw IV week, and it feels like Christmas. I’ll admit it. I’m excited. Part III was the best one yet, and I could tell from its conclusion that Saw IV was going to continue its progressive trajectory. This is one of the few continuing film series that just keeps getting better and better with each passing film. It makes me wonder if Christmas was the same way....
