Verizon Communications Inc. is launching a new service allowing customers to stream movies and television shows over the internet, creating competition for Netflix Inc and the traditional cable TV business, reports Reuters. The phone company is talking with prospective programming partners about the service, which would be introduced outside of markets where it currently offers its broadband and TV package, known as FiOS, these people said. Danai Gurira is leaving AMC’s The Walking Dead. Gurira officially joined the cast during Season 3 and has been a fan-favorite ever since. The announcement of her departure strikes another massive blow to the hit series after Andrew Lincoln left late last year. Both of the Rick and Michonne characters are huge focusing points of Robert Kirkman’s original source material, which the show is based on. For now, fans are anxious to see how the Whisperers factor into the future of The Walking Dead....

The Harry Potter franchise is currently on ice with no new movies currently in the works, but that could change if the new boss at Warner Bros. Discovery gets his way. David Zaslav recently addressed what’s happening with Harry Potter during an investor’s call on Thursday, as reported by THR. While the company has been cutting costs to the extent of canceling already-completed films, things are different with Harry Potter, as the goal is to get the movie series revived at some point....

Production has been under way on Stranger Things Season 2 since early November, with the Season 2 premiere date already set for Halloween, October 31. One of the show’s stars, David Harbour, who plays the Hawkins, Indiana sheriff Jim Hopper, recently held an online Q&A where he shed some light on his character, who has a much different journey this season. You can bring home Spike Jonze’s adaptation of Maurice Sendak’s beloved childrens book on DVD and Blu-ray this March. Where the Wild Things Are will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on March 2nd. The standard DVD will be priced at $28.98 SRP while the Blu-ray, which will include a Digital Copy and a standard DVD disc of the film, will be priced at $35.99 SRP. Nearly 30 years after its initial release, the YouTube channel has made a trailer pointing out the historical inaccuracies and flaws of the 90s animated feature. The film is based on a real story, and according to Screen Junkies, they got almost everything wrong. The animated movie made 346 million at box offices worldwide and featured Christian Bale, Mel Gibson, Billy Connolly and more as the voices of the on-screen characters....

The early reviews for The Whale suggest that Brendan Fraser will be a serious contender for Best Actor at the Academy Awards next year. Set to hit theaters in December, the Darren Aronofsky-directed film stars Fraser in what could be his most challenging and emotional role yet.
