Whether or not you’re a fan of, or have even seen, the Star Wars movies, Vader’s deep voice, distinctive breathing, and memorable lines are instantly recognizable. Even more so recognizable as a piece of cinematic iconography is his helmet. Dark and menacing, Darth Vader’s helmet is the ultimate visual for evil. Given the make-up and effects of the 80s, however, as well as George Lucas’ tendency to re-edit his films, audiences may not have seen the most accurate depiction of the Anakin’s face in the big reveal....

It’s no secret that The Hangover Part III will bring back The Wolf Pack, with Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, and Zach Galifianakis confirmed to star, along with the return of Mike Tyson. According to SciFi Japan, we can look forward to another Host in the near future. The site, reporting from a press release from Chungeorahm Film, which is the Japanese prodco that put out The Host, the new Host film is actually a prequel to the original film, filling in plot details of the first film’s prologue and will also contain much more monster mayhem. The plot revolves around the restoration of the Cheonggyecheon, a stream that runs through the heart of Seoul and into the Han River....

The world of streaming is almost setting up its own real-life multiverse, with TV shows having the incredible ability to impact the world of music streaming. This was seen in the summer of 2022, when Stranger Things 4 turned a 40 year old Kate Bush song into a megahit, giving the eccentric songstress an unexpected Number 1 single around the world. Now Depeche Mode have been the latest musical act to receive a boost after their song “Never Let Me Down Again” played at the end of the first episode of The Last of Us earlier this week....

CW’s The Lost Boys series is finally getting ready to start production. Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke has been tapped to direct the pilot episode and former Teen Wolf star Tyler Posey has been cast in one of the lead roles. Kiele Sanchez (Kingdom), Medalion Rahimi (Still Star-Crossed), and Dakota Shapiro (Valley of the Boom) are also starring in the new series based on the 1987 horror movie. There’s no word on whether or not Corey Feldman will be jumping on board, but fans are probably hoping that the Frog Brother will have a cameo at some point....

The Good A well put together DVD that is not only timely in it’s release but pulls no punches in showing how the film achieved it’s look and style. The Bad Nothing. The sheer scale and scope of The Poseidon Adventure is something that is marvelous to witness even by today’s standards. This latest trailer centers the epic story on the main players, beginning by introducing the Harfoots, the ancestors of the more familiar Hobbits who, much like Frodo Baggins, find themselves involved in a plot far beyond their simple, humble lives. The focus then shifts to Morfydd Clark as the young Galadriel, with the Saint Maud taking over from Cate Blanchett and introducing the character in her early years. A highly skilled Elven warrior, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power finds Galadriel convinced that a great evil is returning to Middle-earth....

The Weinstein Company and Vivendi Entertainment (VE) announced today a home entertainment partnership that will make Vivendi Entertainment (VE) the exclusive distributor of The Weinstein Company library and grant VE the rights to distribute 20 new direct-to-DVD titles from TWC over the next year. The announcement was made today by Bob Weinstein and Harvey Weinstein, Co-Chairmen of TWC, and Tom O’Malley, President of VE. A new take on The Wicker Man is in the works, but this time, it will be developed as a TV series. Originally a feature film released in theaters nearly five decades ago, 1973’s The Wicker Man was previously remade in 2006. Per Deadline, this next reimagining of The Wicker Man will be in the form of a TV show from Andy Serkis and Jonathan Cavendish’s The Imaginarium and Urban Myth Films....

To many, Zachary Quinto showed his true star-making colors during his first scene in 2009’s Star Trek. Big news coming out of Cannes is the casting announcement for Tin Soldier, an indie action flick that will start rolling cameras next week in Greece. Per Deadline, the project has been boarded by two Academy Award winners with Jamie Foxx (Spider-Man: No Way Home) and Robert De Niro (Joker) signed on to star. They’ll be joined by Scott Eastwood (I Want You Back) and John Leguizamo (John Wick) to round out the main cast....

Sad news for Southland fans. TNT has canceled the drama series, with Southland Season 5 being its last. The final episode aired on April 17th, leaving the life of one character on the edge of death. (We like to believe that John Cooper lives!) The cable network released the following statement. Southland debuted on NBC in October of 2009. It was canceled weeks before Southland Season 2 was set to air....

Toby Emmerich has been named President & COO, New Line Cinema and will lead its reorganization to become a stand-alone production entity as part of Warner Bros. Entertainment, it was announced today by Barry Meyer, Chairman & CEO, and Alan Horn, President & COO, Warner Bros. New Line will continue to maintain its own development, creative and production teams. In addition, New Line’s marketing, publicity, distribution, business and legal affairs and physical production will report to Emmerich, but will closely coordinate with their Warner Bros....

According to The Hollywood Reporter, screenwriter Steve Conrad (The Pursuit of Happyness) and Todd Phillips (director of The Hangover) are developing a biographical film about John Belushi. Warner Bros. recently picked up the rights for this project from Belushi’s estate. Conrad is going to write the project and Phillips will produce and possibly direct. This is the latest attempt at trying to make this film about John Belushi. The Saturday Night Live star died of a drug overdose in 1982 at age 33....

Tony Scott recently spoke to HitFix about the sequel to his 1986 blockbuster Top Gun, tentatively titled Top Gun 2, with producer Jerry Bruckheimer at Paramount Pictures. No word on whether Tom Cruise will reprise his iconic role as Maverick, but with the Cold War long over, Tony Scott will script on what happened to the heroic fighter pilots in the decades since. Top Gun 2 will partially examine the end of the era of fighter pilots....

Following the trailer from earlier this week, Disney XD has provided us with a new clip from the Season 2 premiere of Ultimate Spider-Man, airing Monday, January 21 at 7 PM ET. This scene from “The Lizard” features Spider-Man (Drake Bell) and Dr. Curt Connors (Dee Bradley Baker) discussing using animal DNA to repair parts of the human body, such as an amputated arm, for instance. On his journey to become the Ultimate Hero, Peter Parker has handled tough challenges....

Variety reports that Universal Pictures is staying the musical business. The company has picked up the rights to the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical In the Heights. They plan to turn in into a film. In the Heights was created by Lin-Manuel Miranda. He wrote and even starred in the play when it ran both Off Broadway and on Broadway. He is expected to star in the film. The story of In the Heights takes place over “three days in the upper Manhattan neighborhood of Washington Heights, where a bodega owner (played by Manuel) inherits his late grandmother’s lottery winnings and plans to shutter his store and retire on a beach in the Dominican Republic....
