Reno 911! co-stars and Night at the Museum screenwriting partners Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant have taken over creative control on the upcoming Summit Entertainment comedy The Wee McGinty. The project is being referred to as The Bourne Identity meets Leprechaun In the Hood. The duo is set to rewrite a preexisting script originally penned by Mark Gibson and Philip Halprin, with Garant taking on directorial duties. The story revolves around a wish-granting Leprechaun who loses his memory and decides to join the local firefighting squad....

You can bring home the biggest comedy series on television home on DVD this September. Two and a Half Men: The Complete Sixth Season will be released on DVD on September 1. Netflix has provided the first look at the last season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and also revealed that talks of a possible movie are currently happening. The comedy series, from Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, has been a critical hit, earning 16 Emmy Nominations. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt moved from NBC to Netflix before the first season even started, and has had a rabid fanbase ever since. Peter Jackson’s long-awaited and much troubled prequel The Hobbit is finally going to start shooting early next year. James Nesbitt, who is set to play the dwarf Bofur in the fantasy adventure, recently caught up with The Sun, trevealing that he will soon be embarking on a month-long Dwarf training expedition. Nesbitt will fly to New Zealand mid-January to begin filming the J.R.R. Tolkien adaptation. The first week of the yearlong shoot will put the forty-five year old actor through rigorous sword fight training and horseback riding courses, all of which he will do in his full dwarf costume....

A twelve minute animated short of The Hobbit has recently been uncovered. It was written and directed by Tom and Jerry animator Gene Deitch and designed by Czech illustrator Adolf Born. Made in 1967, this short was to be turned into a feature length film. But all parties abandoned it after J.R.R. Tolkien published The Lord of the Rings and it became an unexpected hit.
