2022 was a long year, but it’s finally ended. It was a great year for cinema. Plenty of fantastic and memorable films were released, and many will be remembered for years. For a lot of moviegoers, their favorites were undoubtedly the slate of romance films, which included the likes of Bros, Ticket to Paradise, I Want You Back, Bones and All, and more. Movie studios really went all out in creating stories that gave fans all the feels, and it looks like they’re going to be keeping up the good work into 2023....

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment announced today that it will release its initial BD-Live titles on April 8th, to coincide with the recent Blu-ray Disc Profile 2.0 software update for Playstation 3. In addition to the wide range of content available on the Blu-ray Disc, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story includes three mini featurettes that star Bill Hader as Derek Stone, a historian and expert “Coxologist.” These featurettes are only available via the BD-Live download....

WGN America has released the trailer for their second original series, Manhattan, which comes on the heels of their successful horror drama Salem, already renewed for Season 2. Manhattan is based on the true story of The Manhattan Project, a group of scientists who gathered in Los Alamos, New Mexico in 1943 to create the atom bomb. Instead of centering on actual historical figures such as General Lesley Groves and Richard Feynman, Manhattan is told through fictional characters, although the project leader, Robert Oppenheimer, will be featured as a recurring character....

Relativity Media’s plans to remake The Crow has hit a speed bump with a new lawsuit presented today in Los Angeles by The Weinstein Company, which claims TWC still controls the worldwide distribution rights to the remake. The Weinstein Company’s lawyer, Bert Fields, alleges there is a written contract in place which gives The Weinstein Company and its founders Harvey Weinstein and Bob Weinstein the distribution rights to a remake. The lawsuit claims that Ryan Kavanaugh and his company Relativity Media plan to sell these distribution rights....

Finally, some quality television is coming back to Netflix. No, not Stranger Things, I’m talking about Floor Is Lava! The bizarre yet energetic reality show is back for a second season and, judging from the trailer below, promises more thrills and bigger stakes. We can also expect a volcano! Floor is Lava was created by Megan McGrath and Irad Eyal, hosted by Rutledge Wood (Top Gear). The show takes teams and pits them against an obstacle course of various themed platforms with a floor made to replicate lava....

According to The Hollywood Reporter, incarcerated director Roman Polanski’s The Ghost Writer is going to have its premiere in competition at the 60th Berlin International Film Festival. Polanski shot the thriller in Studio Babelsberg outside Berlin and then finished it while in prison in Switzerland. It stars Ewan McGregor as a ghostwriter that is hired to pen the memoirs of a former British Prime Minister (Pierce Brosnan). After starting work, he discovers a dark secret that puts his life in danger....

While promoting a new book, The Art of Black Widow, Marvel Studios’ Director of Visual Development Andy Park has revealed that Thunderbolts will be “like a Black Widow sequel.” The detail is probably not that surprising, considering the new MCU group will feature several characters from Phase 4’s Black Widow, although Scarlett Johansson’s original Black Widow is gone from the franchise. While many characters have seemingly cheated death in the Marvel franchise, Natasha Romanoff appears to be one of the permanent departures, but she lives on with her sister Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), carrying on her legacy....

Summit Entertainment has confirmed that Peter Facinelli, Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz, Jackson Rathbone, Elizabeth Reaser and Nikki Reed will all return as members of the Cullen Family in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn. Gary Oldman, Guy Pearce, Mia Wasikowska, and Jason Clarke have all joined the cast of The Wettest County in the World for director John Hillcoat. Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, and Jessica Chastain will also star in this upcoming drama. The script is based on the novel by Matt Bondurant, which looks at his grandfather and two great uncles and their experiences as bootleggers in Prohibition-era Virginia. Guy Pearce will play a deputy who violently goes after the Bondurant clan and Gary Oldman will play a gangster who gets the Bondurants started in the bootlegging game....
