Dates have been announced for the celebrity guest hosts of The Daily Show. For seven years, Trevor Noah had served as the host of the program following Jon Stewart’s exit, but in November, he suddenly announced he was set to leave. Noah aired his final episode in December, and it was announced that various guest hosts would come in to serve in that role temporarily when the show returned in 2023.

Comedy Central has unveiled the dates that the first five guests will appear on the program. The show will officially return to the network on Jan. 17 with the first episode of the year kicking off with guest host Leslie Jones serving for that week. She’ll be followed by Wanda Sykes on the week of Jan. 23; D.L. Hughley on the week of Jan. 30; Chelsea Handler on the week of Feb. 6; and Sarah Silverman on the week of Feb. 13.

It has also been announced that other planned guest hosts include Al Franken, John Leguizamo, Hasan Minhaj, Kal Penn, and Marlon Wayans. The Daily Show correspondents and contributors will also be serving in the coming months. Any one of these guest hosts could potentially end up getting the job full time if they take well enough to the position, but time will tell who the next permanent host will be.

The Daily Show features a diverse and comedic news team including Ronny Chieng, Michael Kosta, Desi Lydic, Dulcé Sloan, Roy Wood Jr., Lewis Black, and Jordan Klepper.

Trevor Noah Felt Like His Time Was Up

There were no plans for Trevor Noah to leave The Daily Show, and the show’s staff had expected him to stick around the for foreseeable future. That changed when Noah made his announcement on television that he would soon be leaving. It was something he kept secret from everyone, even the show’s producers, until he announced it in front of the studio audience.

“It’s been absolutely amazing, and I found myself thinking about everything we’ve gone through—the Trump presidency, the pandemic, more pandemic—and I realized that after the seven years, my time is up,” Noah told viewers on the show.

While Noah’s presence on The Daily Show will be missed, it will be interesting to see how so many others do when given the opportunity to host the show. We’ll see how it starts when Leslie Jones kicks things off on Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 11 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central. The episodes will be made available for streaming the following morning on Paramount+.
