The Boys are almost back in town, and with them comes all the violence, foul-language and horrendous superhero action that fans have come to expect. One such super is Chace Crawford’s Aquaman-esque member of The Seven, The Deep, who it appears will be continuing to confront the error of his ways, and even seek absolution.
A new clip from The Boys shows the underwater superhero turning to new recruit, Starlight, in hopes of earning forgiveness for his actions. Of course, in keeping with the tone of the show, the heart-to-heart is perhaps a lot less heartfelt than you would normally expect, with innuendos galore.
Excitement for the second season is heating up, with several new additions to the cast sure to bring a lot of drama into the world of The Boys. As if they needed anymore. One of these new additions is The Mandalorian’s Giancarlo Esposito, who, according to Homelander actor Antony Starr, is going to bring some turbulence to the show. “Homelander thinks he’s the most important player in the game, so to speak, but Edgar very much comes from a different angle,” Starr said of the relationship between the super and his new boss. “He represents a big corporation and he really puts Homelander into a very interesting position for a superhero that is used to getting his own way and being so strong and in control. Edgar really throws the cat amongst the pigeons there and it sets old Homey off on a bizarre trajectory.”

Along with Esposito’s Edgar and Homelander, The Boys series 2 will also explore the relationship between Hughie and Billy Butcher, played by Jack Quaid and Karl Urban respectively. With Billy currently missing in action, upon his return things are “very strained” with his vigilante apprentice, says Quaid. “That’s a very fraught relationship full of a lot of tension, but that’s one of the things that has been the best parts of the season for me: exploring the Butcher-Hughie relationship with Karl. I feel like we’ve been able to deepen it in ways I don’t think fans will expect. I was really satisfied specifically with that aspect of my character this season.”
Thanks to the chaos of the first season, The Boys are now fugitives and Billy is nowhere to be found. “It’s a bit of a mystery,” says Urban, on Billy’s whereabouts. “The Boys are on the back foot and spend a lot of their time trying to make an impact and get traction for taking down the Supes. Just because they’re wanted and in hiding doesn’t mean they’re gonna stop doing what they do. So, the objective is still fundamentally the same.”
