Bullet Train star Aaron Taylor-Johnson will reunite with director David Leitch for the upcoming adaptation of The Fall Guy, with Taylor-Johnson set to star alongside two-time Oscar nominee Ryan Gosling. The Fall Guy is a feature-film adaptation of the beloved 1980s television series of the same name, which follows Hollywood stuntman Colt Seavers, who makes extra cash by moonlighting as a bounty hunter when movie stunt work runs low.
The Fall Guy ran from 1981 to 1986 and starred Lee Majors as Colt Seavers, and while there is a lot of love for the show, it has now been revealed, alongside the addition of Aaron Taylor-Johnson, that the upcoming adaptation will make a few changes.

The Fall Guy movie will reportedly drop the bounty-hunting aspect entirely, with Ryan Gosling’s character now just a stuntman. According to the latest report by The Hollywood Reporter, Gosling will lead The Fall Guy as a “battered and past-his-prime stuntman who finds himself back on a movie with the star he worked with long ago and who replaced him. The problem, however, is that the star is now missing.” Taylor-Johnson will play the move star that Gosling is doubling for, and who goes missing, with A Quiet Place star Emily Blunt already on board as a make-up artist and prosthetics expert who shares a romantic past with Gosling’s stuntman.
While The Fall Guy will drop the bounty-hunting side of the character, it is likely that Gosling’s stuntman will involve himself in tracking down Taylor-Johnson’s movie star — no doubt getting himself caught up in all manner of action set pieces along the way. “It’s about a stuntman who gets embroiled in some crazy drama outside of the movie business, and mayhem ensues,” Leitch said of the project. “And so, there’s fun and action, and we’re trying to make a big summer movie with it. And Universal’s incredibly supportive, and Ryan’s been really collaborative on the material, and we’re starting shooting in October. And so, we’re in pre-production right now.”
The Fall Guy is Not Due for Release Until 2024

The Fall Guy is likely a very personal project for David Leitch, who worked as a stuntman himself before moving into directing. He and fellow stuntman Chad Stahelski teamed up to co-direct the first John Wick back in 2014, and since then, both of their filmmaking careers have taken off. Leitch helmed the excellent 80s-set spy thriller Atomic Blonde, with Charlize Theron before moving into the comic book genre for the well-received Deadpool 2. Leitch’s most recent foray into the action movie world saw the director working with genre icons Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Jason Statham in Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw. The spin-off proved to be a huge financial success, with a sequel quickly confirmed.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson, meanwhile, will soon join the world of Spider-Man as the villainous Kraven the Hunter, which is scheduled to be released in the United States on October 6, 2023. As for Ryan Gosling, he will next be seen starring alongside Margot Robbie as Ken in director Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, which is scheduled for release on July 21, 2023, by Warner Bros. Pictures.
The Fall Guy is set to be released on March 1, 2024, by Universal Pictures.
