Songs have been in movies pretty much since the invention of talking pictures. Over the years, many songs written for movies have reached legendary status. Just look at half the songs from the Disney Renaissance. While most movie songs discuss either love or the theme of whatever movie they’re in, some are… a bit less serious. That’s not to say that silly songs from movies aren’t bad. Some of them are incredible, and we’re going to look at the best ones. We won’t include any funny songs from movies that were Broadway musicals first, since those songs weren’t written specifically for the movie. So, without further ado, here are the funniest songs in movies.

6 “Just Look Up”- Don’t Look Up
Distributed by Netflix
Don’t Look Up is a satire about climate change that’s surprisingly long and surprisingly short on laughs. However, there are two moments that are pretty funny. The first is the running gag about Jennifer Lawrence’s character getting outraged over a US Air Force General forcing her to pay for snacks that were free, and the second is the song Ariana Grande and Kid Cudi sing at a protest campaign. The first half of the song seems like a normal love song and even has a Kid Cudi rap verse in the middle of it. After this is where it gets truly hilarious, with Ariana Grande singing lyrics like “get your head out of your ass” or “listen to the goddamn qualified scientists” in her incredible voice. Grande is clearly giving 110% to this song, which makes it ten times funnier.

5 “Let’s Duet”- Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story
Distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing
Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story is one of the best musical biopics ever made, an impressive feat for a film about a fictional musician. The film is a send-up of all the formulaic musical biopics that came out around the same time, like Ray and especially Walk The Line. “Let’s Duet” is the first song Dewey and his future wife Darlene (he’s married to another woman at the same time, though) sing together. The song is three minutes of sex puns, all sung in a Johnny Cash-like style. The first lyric Dewey sings is “In my dreams you’re blowing me… some kisses.” To which Darlene sings “That’s one of my favorite things to do.” Even the chorus is a sex pun, with Dewey and Darlene singing “Let’s duet in ways that makes us feel good.”
4 “The End of an Act”- Team America: World Police
Distributed by Paramount Pictures
Team America: World Police is a 2004 film by the Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the minds behind South Park. The film satirizes both the right and the left, and contains a few funny songs, but it’s funniest has absolutely nothing to do with politics. Instead, it’s a song about a man missing his girl… all while trashing Michael Bay’s Pearl Harbor, which, as Roger Ebert puts it, is about how the Japanese staged an attack on an American love triangle. It’s a hilarious song. Our singer clearly wants his girl back and all he can think about is how bad Ben Affleck is in Pearl Harbor. Poor guy.
3 “Every Sperm Is Sacred”- Monty Python’s The Meaning Of Life
Distributed by Universal Pictures
No list of funny movie songs would be complete without at least one Monty Python entry, and “Every Sperm Is Sacred” might be the funniest song in any Monty Python movie. Let’s be honest. The song title alone is enough to earn it a spot on this list. The lyrics themselves are gut-bustingly funny, with standouts like “Hindus, Taoists, Mormons spill there’s just anywhere, but God loves those who treat their semen with more care.” In the film, the song is shot like a big musical number, with poor children, nuns, and other citizens of a British industrial town dancing and doing can-cans all while singing about sperm. Yes, even the kids.
2 “Blame Canada”- South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut
The only song on this list to get an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song (though all the ones this list would have been deserving nominees, don’t you think?), this song’s Oscar loss to Phil Collins would eventually make its way into an episode of South Park. The plot of South Park: Bigger Longer, and Uncut involves all the kids of South Park seeing a movie by Canadian comedy duo Terrance and Phillip and constantly quote the vulgar lines from it to their parents. Instead of blaming themselves for allowing their nine-year-olds to see such a movie, the parents all decide to blame Canada instead. And blame Canada they do, saying The Great White North might cause their kids to join the KKK and insulting Canadian singer, Anne Murray (a reprise of the song will take shots at Celine Dion). The song’s final lyric sums up the song’s point perfectly. It goes “We must blame them and make a fuss before somebody thinks of blaming us.” Never has a song about bad parental decisions been so funny.
1 “Springtime For Hitler”- The Producers
Distributed by Embassy Pictures
Without a doubt, the funniest song ever written for a movie. This song is the opening number of what the titular producers hope is the worst musical ever made (they’ll make more money with a flop than a hit), written by a deranged ex-Nazi and promising to show the real Hitler, the one with a song in his heart. The lyrics are great, with such memorable lyrics like “Springtime For Hitler! And Germany! Winter for Poland and France!” and Mel Brooks’ one line, spoken in his New York accent saying to everyone, “don’t be stupid be a smarty. Come and join the Nazi party!” We haven’t even mentioned the dancing SS officers, who not only do can-cans and goose steps, but dance in the shape of a giant swastika. The audience of the play might be horrified at what they’re seeing on stage. The audience watching the movie will be too busy rolling on the floor with laughter.
