One more season of The Handmaid’s Tale will close out the hit show’s story on Hulu. The Hollywood Reporter has reported that the series has just been renewed for a sixth and final season on the streaming platform. The early renewal news comes days ahead of the anticipated fifth season’s premiere. Series creator and showrunner Bruce Miller confirmed the news in a statement which you can read below.
One bright spot in this situation is that there had already been an endgame in mind that the show’s creative team had been working toward. Knowing that season six will be the final season has allowed for Miller to properly plan out how to close out this story

The Testaments Will Continue the Story of The Handmaid’s Tale

The Handmaid’s Tale will be ending, but that’s not the end of the road for this saga. The world of Gilead will be expanded with an all-new sequel series dubbed The Testaments. While the new show gives fans something else to look forward to, it’s still bittersweet as fans will still need to say goodbye to Elisabeth Moss. Miller described how the hardest part of the transition will be moving on from the stars of The Handmaid’s Tale.
The fifth season of The Handmaid’s Tale will premiere on Hulu for streaming on Sept. 14, 2022.
