The Canadian sitcom Letterkenny is well-known for its conversational, witty, cold opens, and Hulu dropped the opener for the eleventh season today. Wayne, Katy, Daryl, and Dan are back at it again, this time taking aim at overused acting methods.
The Hicks sit around the kitchen table, drinking beers and discussing movies, which they refer to as ‘motion pictures.’ They share their distaste for several annoying movie tropes, including the way two actors who are facing off yell at each other before getting closer and quieting down until their last line is delivered so hushed that you have to turn up the volume to hear it.
However, they don’t all agree on some tropes, and the boys proceed to annoy Katy when she mentions her disgust when actors take sharp inhales for ‘dramatic effect.’ Of course, upon learning this, Wayne, Daryl, and Dan then take sharp inhales before their every line as they provide a counterargument.

This isn’t without consequences, as this causes the Hicks to develop hiccups. Wayne asks for the crew to scare him out of the hiccups, to no avail. The cold open wraps up with Wayne referring to ’thespians’ (the Greek word for ‘actor’) in what could be a covert fourth wall break. You can watch the clip below:
Hulu’s description of the cold open says:
You were talking about motion pictures with your pals the other day. The residents of Letterkenny belong to the Hicks, the Skids, and the Hockey Players, who are constantly feuding over seemingly trivial matters that often end with someone getting their ass kicked. New season coming December 26, 2022.
Letterkenny Season 11 Trailer Foreshadows a Big Fight
New Metric Media
The trailer for the eleventh season dropped earlier this month, showcasing more deadpan humor and social commentary, but most alarmingly, a fight between the Hicks and their rivals, the Degens. Of course, Letterkenny is no stranger to fight scenes, but this could be the show’s biggest throwdown yet.
Letterkenny isn’t afraid to make fun of various groups and topics, including redneck farmers, goths, hockey jocks, truck drivers, Instagram influencers, rural churchgoers, golfers, the Amish, and pretty much anyone in between who appears in a typical Canadian small town.
The sitcom started as a YouTube show nearly a decade ago, but Crave acquired it for distribution in Canada and Hulu for distribution in the United States. After that, it became a full-fledged TV show and even has a spinoff called Shoresy, which aired its first season earlier this year.
The eleventh season of Letterkenny premieres on Hulu on December 26th, 2022. Written and developed by Jared Keeso and Jacob Tierney, who also act in the series, the show stars Nathan Dales, Michelle Mylett, K. Trevor Wilson, and Dylan Playfair.
