A pair of new clips from the imminent first season of The Last of Us has been unveiled, with the first finding lead character Ellie seeking advice from resistance fighter Marlene. Released via Naughty Dog Info, the clip should have fans of the video game excited to finally see the world brought to life in live action when The Last of Us debuts later this week. You can check out the new clip below.
The second clip, meanwhile, gives us another look at Pedro Pascal as Joel, giving us a glimpse of what his life was like before the world was thrown into chaos.
From the Emmy award-winning creator of Chernobyl, Craig Mazin, and the creator of the acclaimed video game on which the series is based, Neil Druckmann, The Last of Us follows The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal as Joel and Game of Thrones star Bella Ramsey as Ellie. Taking place twenty years after modern civilization has been destroyed, The Last of Us centers on Joel, a hardened survivor, who is tasked with escorting a teenager, Ellie, across the post-apocalyptic world. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey as the unlikely pair grow closer while navigating through the harshness of the world they live in, enduring brutal circumstances and ruthless killers on a trek across post-pandemic America.

The Last of Us Has Been Met with Rave Reviews
HBO
The reviews for the hugely anticipated video game adaptation are now in, and fans can breathe a sigh of relief as they are overwhelmingly positive. Hailed as the greatest video game adaptation of all time (not that that is a difficult competition), The Last of Us has already shown promise of potentially becoming one of the TV greats.
Awarded a perfect score of 5/5 by Empire, The Last of Us is hailed as “Comfortably the best adaptation of a video-game ever made: one that deepens the game’s dystopian lore, while staying true to its emotional core. Like the game, it’s a masterpiece, too.”
“That isn’t intended as faint praise — but what works about “The Last of Us” works well enough that one sees the near future in which the show winds up among television’s best," says Variety’s Daniel D’Addario. “The raw material, including a poignant and thoughtful curiosity about what it might be like to live through catastrophe, is there.”
Simon Cardy of IGN meanwhile praises The Last of Us for maintaining the essence of the source material while appealing to both hardcore fans and newcomers; “Taking the essence of what made the original tale so enduring, it builds out the world of the game while also switching up some aspects to almost entirely stunning effect. Anchored by two outstanding lead performances from Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal, it delivers an enriching show for fans of the PlayStation hit while also managing to stay welcomingly thrilling to newcomers.”
The Last of Us is scheduled to debut on Jan. 15, courtesy of HBO.
