Ellie Williams from The Last of Us may be immune to the deadly Cordyceps brain fungus that wiped out most of the globe, but the actress bringing the young video game character to life in the HBO adaptation gave everyone a creepy glimpse of what it might sound like if Ellie became an infected “Clicker.”

Bella Ramsey shared her eerily accurate impression of the late-stage infected creatures—who are blind and get their name from the creaky clicking sounds they use for echolocation—in a TikTok posted by Entertainment Tonight.

Ramsey allegedly does the best Clicker impression of all her fellow Last of Us cast members (complete with the jerky movements of a person possessed by a fungus), and while it sounds pretty spot-on to us, the actress doesn’t think she’s quite ready to officially lend her sounds to the clicking Cordyceps cannibals.

“Maybe it’s more like a dolphin,” she laughed. “I think maybe it’s too nice to be a Clicker.”

Ramsey Shares Secret to Other Spot-On Impression: ‘There are So Many [Curse Words]’

Infected impressions aren’t the only ones Ramsey is good at—the actress, who played Lady Lyanna Mormont on Game of Thrones, has an impeccable American accent in her latest HBO series.

The secret? Swearing like a sailor, apparently—which had the added benefit of helping her get into character.

“The character that I play in this show, The Last of Us, Ellie, curses every two seconds. So that was definitely important. There are so many [curse words],” the English actress told host James Corden during a recent appearance on The Late Late Show, joking that her most helpful accent prep was “a laundry list” of swear words.

Under the fatherly eye of smuggler Joel (Pedro Pascal), hired to escort the immune teen out of Boston and into the possession of militia group The Fireflies, the duo navigate the lawless wastelands outside the safety of established quarantine zones—and with ravenous infected potentially around each and every corner, it’s only fair to let Ellie drop an F-bomb or two.

The Last of Us airs Sundays at 9 p.m. EST on HBO and HBO Max; the first two episodes of the adaptation are available to stream now, with nine episodes scheduled to release in total.
