You don’t have to be a Dungeon & Dragons fan to enjoy the first season of The Legend of Vox Machina, which was released on Prime Video in January 2022. This adult animated series based on the web series Critical Role had enough action, heart, and humor to reel in audiences and fans of all kinds.

With a score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, it is easy to see why fans of the web series and the show have been anxiously awaiting a season two. What sort of hijinks will the band of misfits find themselves in as their story continues? Here is what we know about season two so far.

The Legend of Vox Machina Season 2: The Plot

If you have ever played Dungeons & Dragons, you know that the first episode of season one starts the way many campaigns do: with a group of friends or mercenaries or strangers meeting in a tavern of some sort and accepting a job for money. It gives a campaign a starting point, a reason for the characters (who most of the time are complete strangers) to meet, and gives them a goal they must accomplish together against all odds. The group in Vox Machina is charged with the task of finding whatever monster has been terrorizing the city and destroying it. The Tal’Dorei council sends them on their way with little to no information. After finding that the monster is indeed a large blue dragon, the group bands together and figures out how to defeat it. This earns them the title of heroes, and the council then rewards the group with their own place to stay.

The Chroma Conclave is the name of the group of dragons who are out to destroy the entire world of Exandria. It seems it is up to the mismatched but familial group of mercenaries-turned-heroes to figure out a way to defeat the dragons and save the world.

The Chroma Conclave Strikes! The dragon’s evil spreads its shadow across all of Tal’Dorei- can Vox Machina stop them before it engulfs the world?!?

The Legend of Vox Machina Season 2: The Cast

We will obviously see a return of the heroes from the first season with the voice actors all reprising their same roles. Laura Bailey (The Last of Us: Part II) and Liam O’Brien (Star Wars: The Bad Batch) are half-elf twins Vex’ahlia and Vax’ildan. Marisha Ray (Batgirl: Spoiled) is a half-elf druid named Keyleth. Ashley Johnson (The Last of Us), whose character had her own arc and storyline separate from the group, is Pike Trickfoot, a gnome cleric. The goliath barbarian, Grog, is voiced by Travis Willingham (Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order). Percival “Percy” de Rolo is the human gunslinger whom the first season was focused on and is voiced by Taliesin Jaffe (Horizon Forbidden West). And last but not least, what is any D&D party without the fighting power and comic relief of a bard? Sam Riegel (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) reprises his role as the infamous gnome bard Scanlan Shorthalt.

There are also returning voice actors for secondary characters in the show. Gina Torres (Serenity), Esme Creed-Miles (Hanna), and Stephanie Beatriz (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) are a few coming back to reprise their guest roles for season two.

Along with the returning cast of voice actors, there is also the anticipation of many other notable actors joining the show as either essential or visiting characters. Some prominent ones are Will Friedle (Boy Meets World) who was a guest character on the web series, Cree Summer (Rugrats), Troy Baker (The Last of Us), Cheech Marin (Up in Smoke), Alanna Ubach (Bombshell), Mary Elizabeth McGlynn (Star Wars Rebels), Ralph Ineson (Game of Thrones), Lance Reddick (John Wick), Billy Boyd (The Lord of the Rings), and even Henry Winkler (Happy Days).
