In 2022, a number of popular productions premiered on streaming platforms. Among them was The Lincoln Lawyer, a legal drama TV series that premiered on Netflix last May. This production, created by David E. Kelley and developed by Ted Humphrey, was based on Michael Connelly’s novel The Brass Verdict. Said book is the sequel to The Lincoln Lawyer, which was adapted to the silver screen in 2011 starring Matthew McConaughey. The Netflix series follows Mickey Haller, a Los Angeles lawyer who runs his cases in the back of his Lincoln Navigator. After spending some time away from practicing law, Mickey returns and takes on the case of a very important city man, in which things are not as they seem to be and his own life is at risk.

The Lincoln Lawyer stars Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Neve Campbell, Becki Newton, Jazz Raycole, Angus Sampson, and Christopher Gorham, along with many other actors making cameo appearances. The show’s first season features 10 episodes, which were very well reviewed by critics and audiences alike. Just a month after the premiere, Netflix announced the show’s renewal for a second season, which is expected in 2023. It will be based on the novel The Fifth Witness, also by Connelly, and include performances by the cast stars along with a few new names. Manuel Garcia-Rulfo

Manuel Garcia-Rulfo stars in The Lincoln Lawyer as attorney Mickey Haller, and throughout his career, the actor has starred in many film and TV productions. Among Garcia-Rulfo’s best-known movies are Cake, Widows and Murder on the Orient Express. He was also part of the 2016 remake The Magnificent Seven, which required him to undergo gun training, and the war film Greyhound, starring Tom Hanks. During the early years of his career, Garcia-Rulfo appeared in a few episodes of shows such as Ralph Inc. and Touch, until 2014, when he landed a supporting role as Narciso Menendez in From Dusk till Dawn: The Series. Two years later, he took part in the second season of Goliath playing the recurring character Gabriel Ortega.

Neve Campbell

Neve Campbell had her breakthrough in the industry with her roles in the TV film The Canterville Ghost and the blockbuster The Craft, where she co-starred alongside Robin Tunney, Fairuza Balk, and Rachel True. However, her breakthrough performance was as Sidney Prescott in the 1996 film Scream, as well as in the following installments of the franchise over a 25-year period. That role made Campbell one of the most popular and highest-grossing actresses in the horror genre. Still, Campbell did not just stick to horror movies, and over the course of her career she has also appeared in films such as Skyscraper, Closing the Ring and Relative Strangers. While she has made a few cameos in TV shows, two of her most important acting parts in series were as Olivia Maidstone in The Philanthropist and LeAnn Harvey in House of Cards. In The Lincoln Lawyer, Campbell stars as Maggie McPherson, the main character’s first wife and a criminal prosecutor.

Becki Newton

In the show, Becki Newton plays Lorna, Mickey’s second wife and current legal aide. Throughout her career, the actress has mostly been involved in TV projects, and she became well known for her role as Amanda Tanen on Ugly Betty, which she played from 2006 to 2010. She is also recognized for a minor role in the sitcom How I Met Your Mother: she played Quinn Garvey, a stripper at the Lusty Leopard and a love interest of Neil Patrick Harris’ character. Newton has also appeared in other television productions, such as Love Bites and The Goodwin Games, where she was part of the main cast. So far, Newton has only been cast in three movies: P.S., August Rush and Otherhood.

Jazz Raycole

In The Lincoln Lawyer, Jazz Raycole plays Izzy, a former client of Mickey’s who now works as his personal chauffeur. This actress and dancer first entered the industry in 1995, lending her voice to one of the puppies in the movie Babe, and from then on, she mostly performed in TV shows. Raycole became well-known for playing Claire Kyle during the first season of the sitcom My Wife and Kids, but she was later replaced by Jennifer Nicole Freeman, as the producers were looking for an older actress. Over the years, Raycole made cameos in productions such as Malcolm & Eddie, Everybody Hates Chris and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, and she was also a main cast member of the sitcom The Soul Man.

Angus Sampson

Angus Sampson has been part of both film and television projects, many of which have proved to be wildly popular. One of his best known roles is Tucker in the Insidious franchise, which he has portrayed in the first four installments of the film series. Some of his most popular films are The Mule, Where the Wild Things Are and Max: Fury Road. On TV, he was featured in Fargo’s second season as Bear Gerhardt, in Our Flag Means Death and as part of the main cast of Nightflyers, a show inspired by George R. R. Martin’s novel of the same name. In The Lincoln Lawyer, Sampson plays Cisco, Mickey’s ex-wife’s fiancé and also the man who helps him in the investigations.

Christopher Gorham

In the Netflix show, Christopher Gorham portrays Trevor Elliott, a billionaire client of Mickey’s, who is accused of a double homicide. Before landing this role, the actor starred in all kinds of productions, both on TV and in movies. Back in the early 2000s, Gorham was the star of the shows Jake Foley, Medical Investigation and Out of Practice, but in 2006 he gained further notoriety for his role as Henry Grubstick in the series Ugly Betty, where he co-starred alongside Newton. In recent years, he also appeared in the TV series Insatiable, starring Debby Ryan and Dallas Roberts, which was canceled after two seasons following some controversy with the plot. In cinema, Christopher voiced Barry Allen, also known as The Flash, in several films of the DC Animated Movie Universe, such as Justice League: War, The Death of Superman and Justice League Dark: Apokolips War.

Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine

Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine is featured in The Lincoln Lawyer as Detective Raymond Griggs, a recurring character who investigates a murder case. Over the years, Mwine landed a few supporting characters in shows like Heroes, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and Bones, to name just a few. In 2018, the actor joined the main cast of the show The Chi as Ronnie Davis, and appeared in it until the third season. His film debut was in the 2006 film Blood Diamond, the critically acclaimed production starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Connelly and Djimon Hounsou, and he later appeared in other films, such as Queen of Katwe and Farewell Amor. The latter is a picture written and directed by Ekwa Msangi that earned rave reviews.

LisaGay Hamilton

Throughout her career, LisaGay Hamilton has taken part in television, film and theatrical projects of all kinds. Among the most notable ones are the movies Jackie Brown, Take Shelter, 12 Monkeys and Ad Astra, the 2019 film starring Brad Pitt. In 1997, she gained widespread recognition for her role as Rebecca Washington in the legal drama The Practice, but she is also known for her parts in Men of a Certain Age and House of Cards. Over the years, Hamilton made guest cameos in highly popular series, such as Sex and the City, Grey’s Anatomy, The Blacklist and This is Us. In The Lincoln Lawyer, Hamilton plays Mary Holder, the Chief Judge of the Los Angeles Superior Court.

Jamie McShane

The actor who plays Detective Lee Lankford in The Lincoln Lawyer had a busy 2022: besides appearing in this show, he was also a cast member of Wednesday, the Netflix series created by Tim Burton starring Jenna Ortega. In this production, Jamie McShane plays Sheriff Galpin, a highly significant character for the plot. While he has appeared in several films over the years, such as Pride and Glory, Argo, Nightcrawler and Gone Girl, the actor is mostly known for his extensive work in TV series. Rounding out the list is Reggie Lee, who stars in this Netflix series as a business owner named Angelo Soto. Throughout his acting career, Lee has been involved in many successful projects, both in film and television. For one, he played small roles in the films Pirates of the Caribbean, The Dark Knight Rises, The Fast and the Furious and Star Trek, to name just a few. Lee was also part of the main cast of All Rise and Grimm, and he had small guest roles in shows such as NCIS, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, White Collar and The Rookie. The actor is also known for his supporting role as Bill Kim on Prison Break.
