The hit superhero movie The Batman will fall from its top spot at the box office this weekend thanks to the premiere of the new action-adventure film The Lost City. Directed by Adam and Aaron Nee, the Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum vehicle pulled in $31 million at the domestic box office for the weekend. The Batman came up a bit shorter with $20.5 million, which knocks it down to the second place spot, but it still an excellent haul for its fourth weekend in theaters.

That’s certainly not to say The Batman hasn’t first enjoyed its own immense levels of success before falling down a spot at the box office this weekend. It drew an astonishing $128.5 million on its opening weekend, which was the second-highest of the pandemic era behind Spider-Man: No Way Home. Its subsequent weekend hauls at the domestic box officer were $66 million followed by another $36.8 million. But as we eventually saw with No Way Home, even the highest-grossing film in years can only stay at No. 1 for so long.

In the No. 3 spot on the list is the Indian film RRR: Rise, Roar, Revolt, which drew $9.5 million with its premiere weekend. In its sixth weekend in theaters, the video game adaption Uncharted comes up at No. 4 with another $5 million added to its total domestic haul of $133 million. Capping off the top five will be the anime Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie with $4.6 million, as this drops the film from its No. 2 spot from last weekend’s box office with its premiere.

The Horror Movie X Adds to Its Haul

Ti West’s acclaimed horror flick X, which impressed earlier this month at the South by Southwest Film Festival before its wide theatrical release, has garnered $2.2 million in the No. 6 spot. The film has been very well-received by critics and horror fans alike, and West already as a prequel titled Pearl in the works. The plan is to develop a third installment as well to make this a new horror trilogy.

Making up the rest of the top ten list, in order, are Dog, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Sing 2, and Infinite Storm. The long run of No Way Home at the box office has been incredibly impressive, as the film is still flying high in the top ten since its original premiere months ago in December. It has also been made available to watch digitally but many fans are still heading to the theater to see the movie every weekend.
