Beginning back in 2019, The Mandalorian picks up five years after the events of Return of the Jedi and the fall of the Galactic Empire. The series follows Din Djarin, a lone Mandalorian bounty hunter in the galaxy’s outer reaches. He is tasked with retrieving a mysterious child named Grogu, who possesses a strong connection with the Force.

The Mandalorian has been a massive hit for Disney+, with many heralding it as the best things to happen to Star Wars in years. The upcoming third season finds The Mandalorian and Grogu once again at the center of the story, with the adorable pair traveling across the galaxy and heading towards Mandalore as Din Djarin fights to redeem himself for the transgressions of removing his helmet.

While further details are being kept largely under wraps at present, we do know that the third season will see the return of Star Wars: The Clone Wars favorite Bo-Katan Kryze, played once again by Katee Sackhoff, alongside Giancarlo Esposito as Moff Gideon, Carl Weathers as Greef Karga, and Emily Swallow as “The Armorer.” The Mandalorian Season 3 will also add Back to the Future legend Christopher Lloyd and The Goldbergs and Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Tim Meadows to proceedings.

Redemption & Leadership Await Din Djarin in The Mandalorian Season 3

Returning lead Pedro Pascal has teased growth for Din Djarin, with the actor revealing that season 3 will find The Mandalorian stepping reluctantly towards leadership. “If he is stepping into a leadership position, he’s reluctant to do so,” the actor said earlier this year. “I don’t think that there’s anything more interesting than a character being forced into discovering what they’re capable of, and who they are. That part has been really, really fun. Also, from my point of view, there’s so many searchable ways to find the tonality of that. I just tried to achieve the subtleties of that kind of character development.”

With Grogu back by his side, Din Djarin is surely feeling more confident than ever as he makes his way to where he was raised in order to win back his honor. A task that The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau has revealed is achievable. “Well, we established in The Book of Boba Fett that there was an opportunity for The Mandalorian to be redeemed because he had transgressed against the Creed by removing his helmet, and among his group of Mandalorians, that is something that’s not permitted,” he explained.

Thankfully we don’t have to wait too long to see how Din Djarin fares when it comes to redemption, with The Mandalorian Season 3 now scheduled to debut on Disney+ on March 1, 2023. A fourth season is already in development.
