The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel was created by Amy Sherman Palladino, who also writes, directs, and executive produces the series alongside her husband, Daniel Palladino. The series follows Midge Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan), a recent divorcee and mother of two who tries to start a professional career in stand-up comedy while also navigating life as a woman in America in the 1960s. Joining her is a hilarious cast that includes Alex Borstein, Tony Shalhoub, Marin Hinkle, Michael Zegen, and Kevin Pollak.
Season 4 premieres tomorrow and, to build up even more excitement, Salke shared the announcement that the show will come back for one more season. Salke praised the job that the show does with “challenging the norms in our industry” and how the series “blazed an unparalleled path” in how shows tell stories about women. She also confirmed that season 5 will be the final season for the show. Here is the full quote from EW:
The finale of season 4 was a devastating moment for Midge as she was removed from Shy Baldwin’s (Leroy McClain) tour. Season 4 will see her trying to make a name for herself while also trying to balance her love life and deal with her overbearing parents. Maybe season 5 will finally be the time when Midge sees her name up in lights.
“Amy, Dan, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel have blazed an unparalleled path, elevating the stories we tell about women, challenging the norms in our industry, and forever altering the entertainment landscape with their one-of-a-kind storytelling. The dozens of awards cement Maisel’s legacy in many ways, but what’s even more enduring and poignant are the characters Amy created and the joyous, brilliant, singular world she and Dan brought to life. This series has meant so much to Prime Video and the effects of its success will be felt long after its final season. I can’t wait for fans and our worldwide Prime Video audience to savor each moment as we embark on the culmination of this groundbreaking and unforgettable series.”
