Some of the shows we grew up loving are like beautiful books: there is a beginning and an end. The Mindy Project came out in 2012 and ran for a blissful six seasons until its final episode aired in November 2017. This hilarious sitcom starred actress and comedian Mindy Kaling. The show chronicles Dr. Mindy Lahiri’s misadventures as she navigates her professional life at the OB/GYN practice she shares with fellow doctors and nurses, while also trying to find love and happiness in Manhattan. Audiences were quick to fall in love with this show’s charm, charisma, and chemistry between the cast.
Alongside Kaling, The Mindy Project had great performances from Chris Messina, Ike Barinholtz, Ed Weeks, Zoe Jarmon, B. J. Novak, and Adam Pally. For a show that ran as long as The Mindy Project, having a cast that harnesses the relationships between these characters is key to keeping audiences interested and rooting for them. Although fans of the show were saddened to see it come to an end, their support for the cast on and off-screen did not cease. Since the show’s end, here is what the cast of The Mindy Project has been up to.
MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY
Mindy Kaling
Fox
Mindy Kaling, the lead of the show, became an instant star as soon as the show debuted in 2012. Kaling played Mindy Lahiri, a doctor who decides to take a leap of faith to find out what she really wants out of the life she has built for herself. Along the way, this beloved on-screen character discovers love and friendship, while Kaling herself was launched as a force to be reckoned with in the entertainment and comedy space. Since the show’s end in 2017, Kaling has continued her acting career, playing characters in Ocean’s 8, Late Night, Champions, and The Morning Show, to name a few. Kaling has recently received attention for her upcoming Velma series, which is coming to HBO Max, where Velma is portrayed/reimagined as South Asian. She is also credited towards the screenplay of Legally Blonde 3 coming out next year.
Chris Messina
Chris Messina plays Danny Castellano on The Mindy Project, and we were instantly swooning from the looks of this TV OB-GYN. However, we were quick to learn that looks aren’t everything. Messina, with his charming smile and increasingly indisputable good looks, was bound for success after this show. Since the show ended, he took part in Birds of Prey, The Secrets We Keep, 2020’s I Care a Lot, and Sharp Objects.
Ike Barinholtz
Ike Barinholtz is comedic gold, and his presence as Morgan Tookers in The Mindy Project really brought out the heart in this show. Barinholtz is an actor, writer, producer, and comedian, who has had a long career in the entertainment business so far. Even though the show ended, you won’t catch Barinholtz slowing down. He was in 2018’s Blockers, starred in The Oath, and has since been on the new comedy series The Afterparty that is streaming right now on Apple TV+!
Ed Weeks
Ed Weeks played the one and only Jeremy Reed on The Mindy Project. Since The Mindy Project ended in 2017, Weeks has since starred as Colin in LA to Vegas, a comedy series from Fox. He is also part of the cast of Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight. Weeks also played Chase in the 2020 romantic drama Sylvie’s Love starring Regé-Jean Page, Tessa Thompson, and Nnamdi Asomugha.
B.J. Novak
We love a good love interest! The chemistry between B.J. Novak and Mindy Kaling throughout this show on and off-screen is one of the things that makes this show so special for fans. If you were a fan of Mindy and Jamie, you are probably curious of what Novak has been doing since The Mindy Project. He starred in the anthology series The Premise in 2021 and in the 2022 mystery thriller Vengeance alongside Dove Cameron, Boyd Holbrook, Issa Rae, Lio Tipton, and Ashton Kutcher.
Adam Pally
Adam Pally plays Peter Prentice in The Mindy Project. The character is witty, somewhat immature, childish, but full of fun and laughs. Pally has since been a part of multiple projects since the show ended. As an extremely talented actor, writer, producer, and comedian, Pally has been keeping busy. He is in both live-action Sonic the Hedgehog movies and the comedy show 101 Places To Party Before You Die.
