The latest trailer for the upcoming Paramount+ miniseries, The Offer, sees Miles Teller trying his best to get one of the greatest movies of all time off the ground: The Godfather. Released via the official Paramount+ YouTube channel, the trailer offers an extended look at the series, which details the development and production of Francis Ford Coppola’s landmark gangster classic.

Based on Oscar-winning producer Albert S. Ruddy’s extraordinary, never-revealed experiences of making The Godfather, The Offer details the drama and difficulty behind the scenes. The series drops audiences into the era of early 970s Hollywood and follows Whiplash star Miles Teller as film producer Albert S. Ruddy. Hired to produce an adaptation of the best-selling novel The Godfather, written by Mario Puzo, The Offer will, well, offer an insider look at the tensions that went on backstage, tensions which came to a head when mob boss Joe Colombo decides he wants to be involved in production.

The trailer gives us a taste of the kinds of issues that Ruddy ran into when trying to bring this gangster epic to cinematic life, with the events of the real world slowly beginning to mirror the events of the movie after the mob decides they want in on this major Hollywood project.

The Offer is led by Miles Teller as Ruddy, with the series set to feature several recognizable actors playing several recognizable actors, directors, producers, and the rest. Alongside Miles Teller, The Offer stars Matthew Goode as Robert Evans, Juno Temple as Bettye McCartt, Giovanni Ribisi as Joe Colombo, Dan Fogler as Francis Ford Coppola, Burn Gorman as Charles Bluhdorn, Colin Hanks as Barry Lapidus, and Patrick Gallo as Mario Puzo.

The series will also feature a number of interpretations of some of the all-star cast of The Godfather, including Justin Chambers as Marlon Brando, Frank John Hughes as Frank Sinatra, Anthony Ippolito as Al Pacino, and Damian Conrad-Davis as James Caan.

The Offer is scheduled to premiere on April 28, 2022, on Paramount+.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the release of The Godfather, a movie that is still considered to be not just one of the greatest gangster films of all time, but one of the greatest films ever made, period. Directed by Francis Ford Coppola, who co-wrote the screenplay with Mario Puzo, and based on Puzo’s best-selling 1969 novel of the same name, The Godfather introduces audiences to Don Vito Corleone, head of a mafia family, who decides to hand over his empire to his youngest son Michael Corleone. This decision ultimately leads to all manner of danger and death befalling the family and the mob, as Michael evolves from reluctant family outsider to ruthless mafia boss.

Starring Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, James Caan, Richard Castellano, Robert Duvall, Sterling Hayden, John Marley, Richard Conte, and Diane Keaton, The Godfather went on to receive a whole host of awards and plaudits, including the Academy Award for Best Picture, Best Actor, and Best Adapted Screenplay and has been a major influence on movie making ever since.
