The dark side of the hit musical series Glee is explored in the new docuseries The Price of Glee. Coming to Investigation Discovery, the three-part series has also been given a first trailer to provide fans a sneak peek at the show’s behind-the-scenes issues, such as the shocking deaths of three of its lead stars at young ages. Was the series cursed? See how you feel by watching the new trailer below.
“In May 2009, 10 young actors made their TV debut on Glee. By 2020, all of them would be famous, and three would be dead,” text in the trailer reads, referring to the deaths of Cory Monteith (Finn Hudson), Naya Rivera (Santana Lopez), and Mark Salling (Noah “Puck” Puckerman).

Monteith is the only one of the three whose deaths came during the course of the series. In 2013, the actor died of a heroin overdose at the age of 31. His death was acknowledged on the show by explaining that his character Finn had died with his classmates in mourning.
Rivera wasn’t much older than Monteith when she died at the age of 33 in 2020. At the time, she had taken her four-year-old son on a trip to Lake Piru in California where the two turned up missing after heading out into the water in a rented boat. Her son was later found alive but alone in the boat while Rivera’s body was recovered several days later. It was determined that she was swimming in the water with her son when a rip current rolled in, and she likely used all the strength she had to save her child before drowning.
Salling’s death was another that was shocking in many ways when it happened in 2018. After pleading guilty to possession of child pornography, Salling died by suicide weeks before his sentencing. This followed accusations of sexual battery before he was arrested in 2015. Salling was facing years in prison at the time of his suicide.
