Dwayne Johnson’s adamance in getting Henry Cavill to cameo as the Man of Steel in Black Adam makes sense when considering how big of a fan the former is of the latter. Over the years, we have seen many different actors portraying Superman in the DC superhero’s various incarnations, and among the most popular is Cavill’s version. First taking on the role in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel in 2013, Cavill would reprise the role for the crossover films Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League. Last year, he returned to the spotlight with the release of new footage in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, and more recently, he popped up for a surprise cameo in Black Adam.

Given the Superman cameo, The Rock also touched on the Man of Steel. He said that the studio was initially very reluctant to bring back Cavill, but that he and his fellow Black Adam producers were refusing to accept no for an answer. As Johnson explains, one reason why it was so important to get Cavill to return is that he’s the best Superman of all, so there was no consideration given to having the role recast with anyone else.
