Joe and Anthony Russo continuously work with some of the biggest names in Hollywood. Whether it’s Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. in Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame or Ryan Gosling, Ana de Armas, and Billy Bob Thornton in The Gray Man. The pair of directors are looking to team up with even more industry A-listers with their next film for Netflix, The Electric State.
A report from Deadline confirms Michelle Yeoh, Stanley Tucci, Jason Alexander, Brian Cox, and Jenny Slate will join the cast of the upcoming film, which already includes Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown and Guardians of the Galaxy lead Chris Pratt. The Electric State is described as an adaptation of the illustrated novel by Simon Stålenhag set in a retro-futuristic past. An orphan teenager, played by Brown, traverses the American West with a sweet but mysterious robot and an eccentric drifter in search of her younger brother.

Angela Russo-Otstot, Jake Aust, Geoff Haley, Stephen McFeely, and Jeff Ford Markus will serve as executive producers. There’s no official release date for The Electric State quite yet, as the pair just finished up with The Gray Man. However, expect to see the duo begin work on their next film soon and a possible 2024 release date.
The Electric State Ensemble Cast Has Been Busy
Netflix
Millie Bobby Brown is having a tremendous year, reprising her role as Eleven in the long-awaited, penultimate fourth season of Stranger Things. The series aired its finale on July 1, and the eventual fifth and final season is expected to arrive on Netflix in the next few years, with the writers already beginning work on it.
Brown’s co-star, Chris Pratt, has been hard at work on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and starred in the final Jurassic entry earlier this summer, Jurassic World Dominion. He made a brief appearance in Thor: Love and Thunder before making his debut in Prime Video’s new series, The Terminal List. Michelle Yeoh has kept busy, too, appearing in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings before starring in A24’s mega-hit, Everything Everywhere All at Once.
Jason Alexander has voiced Sy Borgman on HBO’s Harley Quinn while appearing in both Young Sheldon and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. In addition, Brian Cox is reaching a renewed level of stardom with his role as Logan Roy in HBO’s Succession, for which he received two Emmy nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. Jenny Slate appeared alongside Yeoh in Everything Everywhere All at Once and starred in Marcel the Shell with Shoes On earlier this year. In addition, she voiced Tammy in The Bob’s Burgers Movie and Judy Tobin in The Great North and starred in the Prime Video movie I Want You Back.
Surprisingly, the Russo Brothers found a time to get all these talents together and somehow got them to agree to sign on for The Electric State. Expect to see more news and promotional material to release for the upcoming Russo brothers’ film as it becomes available, and watch their latest movie, The Gray Man, on Netflix.
