A pair of new clips from Netflix’s long-awaited adaptation of The Sandman provide a detailed look at how the streaming giant will bring this epic saga to life. Released courtesy of IGN, this new footage offers us a better look at Tom Sturridge as Morpheus, as he traverses Hell, death, and everything in between. Taken from the fourth episode A Hope in Hell, the first clip finds Morpheus AKA Dream heading into Hell in order to reclaim one of his stolen artifacts: the Helmet of Dreams. In possession of a demon, Dream must turn to his old “friend” Lucifer Morningstar, played by Game of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie, for help.

The second clip finds Dream on a journey with his sister and fellow member of the Endless, Death (played by Kirby Howell-Baptiste). Taken from episode 6, The Sound of Her Wings, Dream accompanies his sister as she makes her rounds and carries out her duties, with the pair arriving at the home of an elderly violinist who is not yet ready to pass over to the other side.

The Sandman will bring seminal author Neil Gaiman’s graphic novel to the screen for the first time. “There is another world that waits for all of us when we close our eyes and sleep — a place called the Dreaming, where The Sandman, Master of Dreams (Tom Sturridge), gives shape to all of our deepest fears and fantasies,” the official synopsis for the series reads. “But when Dream is unexpectedly captured and held prisoner for a century, his absence sets off a series of events that will change both the dreaming and waking worlds forever. To restore order, Dream must journey across different worlds and timelines to mend the mistakes he’s made during his vast existence, revisiting old friends and foes, and meeting new entities — both cosmic and human — along the way.”
