Christmastime brings out some of the best holiday movies to watch at home, both for your own enjoyment and with your family. It brings movies full of hijinks, magic, and wild characters and plots, ranging from National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation to Rise of the Guardians to the upcoming Christmas Slasher. The movies that play during the holidays always have a little something for everybody.
An unforgettable favourite is The Santa Clause movie franchise starring Tim Allen. The movies follow Scott Calvin, who reluctantly becomes Santa Claus, as he deals with everything from an evil toy doppelganger to the nefarious plans of Jack Frost. The movies each have a great story and wonderful characters to go with it, and now a new limited series will be released on Disney+ to continue the story.
MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY
Audiences have a sense of what to expect for The Santa Clause series, but there’s plenty we still hope to see.
The Claus Siblings
Walt Disney Pictures
At the end of the third movie, The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause, Carol gives birth to her and Scott’s baby, who they’ve named Buddy. The synopsis for the new series shares that Scott wants to retire to give his family a chance at the normal world, including a more stable life for his two children, that have been raised at the North Pole. Since this doesn’t mean his son Charlie from his first marriage, audiences will get to see another new character alongside Buddy, presumably a sister played by Tim Allen’s own daughter.
There’s plenty of potential for these two kid characters -– Buddy might be the responsible older brother, or the bad influence his sibling has to keep out of trouble, or they might end up being partners in crime when it comes to any chaos they cause at the North Pole. However they end up being, viewers eagerly anticipate the Claus siblings and all they bring. The siblings are a perfect bridge to connect those who grew up with the movies to the newer generations that will see the series.
Council of Legendary Figures
Along with several of the beloved cast and characters set to return for the show, we would love to see the return of the Council of Legendary Figures, who made an appearance in the third film. Audiences that grew up with the movies would cheer to see the hilarious Aisha Tyler back as the gorgeous (and somewhat flirty) Mother Nature or Kevin Pollack returning as the snarky Cupid. Viewers of all ages would cheer to see the return of their counterpart, the clever and charming Jack Frost portrayed by Martin Short.

The famous actors would delight the older viewers if they made a comeback in the franchise. Meanwhile, younger audiences can enjoy the comedy and the magic that these characters brought to life for us in the original trilogy.
Santa’s Reindeer
Who could forget the wonderful and amusing reindeer that Scott has? Comet, the reindeer, takes the spotlight in the trilogy compared to the others, encouraging Scott as he becomes Santa and befriending his sweet honorary-niece Lucy in the second movie. It would be fun to see Comet return as a sidekick character and maybe see a little more action from the other reindeer on screen. The show might even give us some updated visual designs for the reindeer, giving them animations that are a little less clunky and eyes that are slightly less terrifying.
Effective Liberating Flight Squad
In the first Santa Clause movie, when Scott gets arrested, young Charlie frees him with the help of the E.L.F.S, who are essentially a covert squad of “elves with attitude.” This scene in the movie is often forgotten about, but it should definitely get a callback. It shows that the elves of the North Pole aren’t just toy-builders and hot chocolate drinkers. They also have a more intense side when it comes to saving Christmas and their Santa.
This special forces unit makes for a great action scene in the first film and should make a comeback in the upcoming series. It would bring a little more excitement and higher stakes to whatever trouble might be brewing in the show’s story.

There’s plenty of anticipation and excitement brewing for this new Disney+ series, and truly anything could happen. We know some of the main actors are returning from the original movie trilogy, but there are plenty of newcomers to the world of The Santa Clause. The series will be a delightful nostalgia watch for those that grew up with the movies, and it will be an entertaining continuation for the younger audiences that have watched them at Christmas.
These are just a few possibilities for what might pop up in the new show that audiences are hoping to see. For the time being, we’ll just have to wait for the magic to make its way to our screens.
