A pair of new images tease the long-awaited return of Tim Allen as Scott Calvin aka Santa Claus in the upcoming Disney+ sequel series, The Santa Clauses. Released courtesy of EW, the new images show of the actor’s triumphant return as the festive fan-favorite who will be joined this time by his extended family as he makes the difficult decision to give up his duties as Kris Kringle. “Scott Calvin is on the brink of his 65th birthday and realizing that he can’t be Santa forever,” the official synopsis for The Santa Clauses reads. “He’s starting to lose a step in his Santa duties, and more importantly, he’s got a family who could benefit from a life in the normal world, especially two sons, one that grew up in Lakeside, Illinois and one that grew up at the Pole. With a lot of elves, children, and family to please, Scott sets out to find a suitable replacement Santa while preparing his family for a new adventure in a life south of the pole.”

The Santa Clauses will act as a continuation of the Santa Clause franchise, which first began back in 1994. The Disney miniseries will find Tim Allen returning as Scott Calvin aka Santa Claus alongside Elizabeth Mitchell as Carol Calvin aka Mrs. Claus; Austin Kane as Buddy “Cal” Calvin-Claus, Scott’s youngest son; and Allen’s real-life daughter Elizabeth Allen-Dick as Sandra Calvin-Claus, the youngest child of Scott and Carol.

The rest of the cast includes, Kal Penn as Simon Choksi, whose life changes when he visits the North Pole; Matilda Lawler as Betty, Santa’s Chief of Staff; Rupali Redd as Grace Choksi, Simon’s kind-hearted daughter; Devin Bright as Noel, Santa’s right-hand elf; David Krumholtz as Bernard, Santa’s former right-hand elf; Laura San Giacomo as Befana the Christmas Witch; and Peyton Manning, who makes an appearance as himself as a potential candidate for the next Santa.

Tim Allen Has Revealed What it Was Like to Once Again Don the Santa Suit

Along with these new images, Tim Allen has discussed what it was like to once again don the red Santa suit after all these years, revealing that the sight of him as Santa Claus resulted in big smiles from both children and adults alike.

“As I walked on set for the first time in the full regalia, everybody got very quiet, both adults and kids,” Allen revealed. “When I show up dressed in the full suit and everything else, there’s big smiles on people’s faces. Little kids are quiet. I had totally forgotten that. It does feel like Santa’s in the room.”

The Santa Clause has become a holiday staple for many a household, and has since spawned several sequels. Though neither of them managed to reach the same festive heights as the original, fans are excited to see Tim Allen in the role again after all these years, with the upcoming Disney+ series expected to become another holiday treasure.

The Santa Clauses is set to premiere on Disney+ with two episodes on November 16, 2022.
