There will be more holiday cheer to come at Disney+. Per TVLine, it has been confirmed that The Santa Clauses, the new series that serves as a continuation to the Santa Clause movie trilogy, has been renewed for season 2. The news comes just as the season finale of the show’s 6-episode freshman season arrives on Disney+.

“This franchise has had a lasting impact for so many families, truly becoming part of their annual holiday traditions,” Disney Branded Television president Ayo Davis says of the renewal. “Bringing it back as a series has been a true gift, and I’m grateful to our producing partners at 20th Television and, of course, Tim Allen and team, that we have yet another reason to celebrate this holiday season.”

Created by Jack Burditt, The Santa Clauses picks up years after the events of The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause. Tim Allen reprises his role as Scott Calvin, aka Santa Claus, alongside a returning Elizabeth Mitchell as Carol Calvin, aka Mrs. Claus. The series also stars Austin Kane as Scott’s son Cal, Elizabeth Allen-Dick as daughter Sandra, Matilda Lawler as North Pole Chief of Staff Betty, Devin Bright as right-hand elf Noel, Kal Penn as Santa Claus successor Simon, and Rupali Redd as his Simon’s daughter Grace.

In the series, “Scott Calvin is back! After being Santa Claus for nearly thirty years, he’s as jolly as ever. But as Christmas declines in popularity, so does his Santa magic. Scott struggles to keep up with the demands of the job, as well as being there for his family. Upon discovering there is a way to retire from his post, Scott considers stepping down as Santa Claus and finding a worthy successor so that he can become a better father and husband.”

The renewal of the series will mark the next step for the franchise that first arrived in 1994. Directed by John Pasquin, The Santa Clause introduced Tim Allen in his Scott Calvin role, and fans loved the result. The movie was a huge hit at the box office, spawning an ongoing franchise. Along with the new Disney+ series, the film was also given two sequels: The Santa Clause 2 in 2002 and The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause in 2006.

The first season of The Santa Clauses is streaming on Disney+. Season 2 does not yet have a premiere date.
