A handful of images tease the return of Netflix’s unorthodox superhero family, The Umbrella Academy. Released via social media, this latest look at the upcoming third season offers another look at some of the familiar faces, some alternate versions of one familiar face in particular, and The Sparrow Academy, a variant of The Umbrella Academy that exists within this new timeline.
The Umbrella Academy look as confused as ever in the stills, as they try to understand how and why they have ended up in yet another timeline. As well as offering new looks at the likes of Luther, Viktor, Klaus, Five, and the rest of the Hargreeves siblings, the images show off the superhero costumes of The Sparrow Academy. Costumes that recently debuted in all their glory courtesy of a poster for The Umbrella Academy Season 3.

Looking red and leathery (say that three times fast), the costumes would not be out of place in the MCU or a CW show and differ greatly from the outfits we have seen The Umbrella Academy wear. While the titular gang has always been disorganized, with most of them never taking their superhero duties particularly seriously, The Sparrow Academy looks much better assembled. Something which will likely cause problems for The Umbrella Academy when the two teams inevitably come to blows.
The Umbrella Academy Season 3 Will Introduce a Variant of Ben Hargreeves

Based on Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá’s Dark Horse comic book series of the same name, The Umbrella Academy begins in 1989, with a highly unusual occurrence wherein forty-three infants are inexplicably born to random, unconnected women who showed no signs of pregnancy the day before. Seven of these mysterious babies are adopted by Sir Reginald Hargreeves, a billionaire industrialist, who creates The Umbrella Academy and prepares his “children” to save the world.
The first season of The Umbrella Academy aired in 2019, concluding with the family being sent back in time to 1960s Dallas. After tackling their time travel escapades, the Hargreeves siblings returned to what they thought was the present, but in the final moments, was revealed to be an alternate timeline. Faced with shadowy figures known as The Sparrow Academy, season 3 will see the Hargreeves family attempt to survive once again while they figure out a way home.
The Sparrow Academy are expected to be major players in season 3, with the team made up of Justin Cornwell as Marcus Hargreeves AKA Sparrow Number One, Britne Oldford as Fei Hargreeves AKA Sparrow Number Three, Jake Epstein as Alphonso Hargreeves AKA Sparrow Number Four, Genesis Rodriguez as Sloane Hargreeves AKA Sparrow Number Five, Cazzie David as Jayme Hargreeves AKA Sparrow Number Six, and a…psykronium cube named Christopher.
The Sparrow Academy also includes an alternate version of Umbrella Academy member Ben Hargreeves, played once again by Justin H. Min, who now goes by Sparrow Number 2 and has no idea who or what The Umbrella Academy is.
