A pair of new posters for the upcoming third season of The Umbrella Academy put the spotlight on Elliot Page as Viktor Hargreeves and Sparrow Academy counterpart, Christopher. A telekinetic cube. Yes, really. Revealed on social media by Netflix Geeked, the posters offer our best look yet at these two characters, both of whom are expected to be hugely important to the events of The Umbrella Academy Season 3.
Elliot Page’s member of The Umbrella Academy will undergo some changes when they return in season 3, changes which will reflect the actor’s real-life experience. Netflix recently welcomed the debut of Viktor Hargreeves on Twitter, releasing an image from the upcoming third season alongside the caption “Meet Viktor Hargreeves.” The official accounts for both The Umbrella Academy and Netflix continued the warm welcome saying, “WE LOVE VIKTOR,” with the streaming giant adding, “Welcome to the family, Viktor — we’re so happy you’re here.”

Page publicly came out as transgender in December 2020, stating that his preferred pronouns are he and they, and changing his name to Elliot. The actor’s return in The Umbrella Academy season 3 will evidently reflect this as Vanya Hargreeves becomes Viktor, with the character presumably coming out as a transgender man in the third season, and thus corresponding with Page’s own transition.

The second poster gives us another look at Sparrow Academy member Christopher AKA #7, a telekinetic cube of unknown origin who can turn the room freezing cold and induce paralyzing fear.
Based on Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá’s Dark Horse comic book series of the same name, the first series of The Umbrella Academy begins in 1989, with a highly unusual occurrence wherein forty-three infants are inexplicably born to random, unconnected women who showed no signs of pregnancy the day before. Seven of these mysterious babies are adopted by Sir Reginald Hargreeves, a billionaire industrialist, who creates The Umbrella Academy and prepares his “children” to save the world.
The second season picks up with the characters after they’ve been thrown back in time, with the siblings scattered between 1960 and 1963 in Dallas. In the series’ final moments, the Hargreeves are shunted into an alternate timeline. They quickly come face-to-face with a group of shadowy figures known as The Sparrow Academy, an alternate version of The Umbrella Academy.
Season 3 picks up with the family after putting a stop to 1963’s doomsday, with The Umbrella Academy returning home to the present. Convinced they prevented the initial apocalypse and fixed this godforsaken timeline once and for all, the celebration is quickly shut down when they realize things aren’t exactly how they left them. Enter the Sparrow Academy. Smart, stylish, and about as warm as a sea of icebergs, the Sparrows immediately clash with the Umbrellas in a violent face-off that turns out to be the least of everyone’s concerns. Will they find a way back to their pre-apocalyptic lives? Or is this new world about to reveal more than just a hiccup in the timeline?
The Umbrella Academy Season 3 is due to land on Netflix on June 22, 2022.
