Much like Game of Thrones, AMC’s The Walking Dead has been no stranger to killing off beloved characters. With the exception of Daryl, Carol, Negan, and Maggie, the series has proved that its characters can meet their end at any time. Back in 2016, some fans expected the fan-favorite Glenn Rhee to survive after Negan struck down Abraham Ford with Lucille. But in a departure from the comics, Negan chose two victims, and the seventh season premiere became Glenn’s final episode.
Glenn’s death has somewhat overshadowed other characters in The Walking Dead. The series ran for more than a decade but as a result, the casual TWD fanbase has forgotten about certain characters over time. With the series now officially concluded, it’s a great time to look back on who some of these characters are. Here are 12 major character deaths on The Walking Dead that fans have forgotten about.

12 T-Dog
AMC
Theodore Douglas, also known as “T-Dog,” was a kind man who joined Rick’s crew in Atlanta. He made his debut in The Walking Dead’s second episode and survived long enough to reach the prison in Season 3. It was there where Rick and co. took shelter, but disaster struck when a gate was left open, allowing walkers to invade the prison. T-Dog succeeded at closing the gate, but in the process, received a nasty walker bite on the shoulder. Knowing his fate was already sealed, T-Dog dedicated his remaining time to helping Carol get to safety.

T-Dog was originally meant to survive - it was Carol that was supposed to die with Lori in the show’s third season. As shared by CinemaBlend, Lori Grimes actress Sarah Wayne Callies stepped in and told the writers that killing off Carol was a “terrible mistake.” It’s unfortunate that T-Dog had to die, but the character left The Walking Dead having played a pivotal role in the series. T-Dog saved many people, and by saving Carol, indirectly saved countless more lives.
11 Siddiq
Before Carl Grimes was killed off, Carl managed to save Siddiq and bring him to Alexandria. Siddiq quickly became a valued member of the community and joined the fight against the Saviors. Once the Saviors were defeated, Siddiq became a doctor in Alexandria as well as a key member of their government. He also became romantically involved with Rosita Espinosa which led to him becoming a father.
Everything turned upside down with the arrival of the Whisperers, who used Dante to infiltrate Alexandria. Siddiq was strangled to death upon discovering Dante’s true identity, and his zombified corpse was later put down by Rosita. This left Gabriel to become the adoptive father of Siddiq’s child. Many fans felt Siddiq’s death was a bit premature and were barely talking about Siddiq by Season 10.
10 Jessie
Lori has been well remembered, but another of Rick Grimes’ love interests, Jessie Anderson, has been left completely in the past. Jessie was the mother of Ron, the boy who shot Carl in the eye during the sixth season of The Walking Dead. She played a crucial role in integrating Rick into Alexandria and opened Rick up to the possibility of finding new love. However, Jessie was later devoured by walkers, cutting their relationship short. Jessie’s death has left her sandwiched between the more memorable Lori and Michonne inThe Walking Dead history.
9 Enid
Enid was on The Walking Dead for six seasons as one of the most prominent faces of Alexandria and the Hilltop. She formed a close relationship with Carl Grimes and was both the first and last person that Carl kissed. Following Carl’s death, Enid became a doctor for the Hilltop and eventually moved on to Alden. During the war with the Whisperers, Enid was kidnapped and killed by Alpha. In their last stand, Enid and other victims fought together as a family against the Whisperers. Siddiq witnessed Enid’s bravery in her final moments and used it to inspire the Coalition.
8 Spencer
The son of Deanna and Reg Monroe, Spencer, stirred up trouble for Rick from Season 5 through Season 7. Spencer viewed Rick as a major threat to Alexandria, as well as the man responsible for the many deaths in his family. Halfway into Season 7, Spencer attempted to convince Negan to kill Rick. Negan saw through Spencer’s machinations and remarked that Spencer had “no guts” before killing him. While this was one of Negan’s most memorable kills, Spencer no longer occupies much of a place in either the characters’ or the fans’ memory.
7 Tara
Thanks to Glenn Rhee, Tara Chambler was able to defect from the Governor’s community and join Rick’s group. Tara went on to join Alexandria before becoming the leader of the Hilltop. Unfortunately, Tara was one of the people kidnapped and killed by Alpha during the fair. By this time a lot of fans had grown less interested in Tara, as the show seemed to not know exactly what to do with the character. Tara’s death developed the threat of Alpha and the Whisperers but sadly didn’t do much for Tara’s story.
6 Sasha
Joining The Walking Dead in Season 3 with her brother Tyreese, Sasha Williams followed Rick’s crew all the way into Season 7. Sasha proved to be one of the group’s most resourceful and courageous members. She lost her brother and the two other people closest to her, Bob Stookey and Abraham Ford, but still managed to find the strength to carry on. In an attempt to kill Negan, Sasha consumed a cyanide pill while in a coffin so that her zombified self could take Negan by surprise. Actress Sonequa Martin-Green then departed the show and began leading Star Trek: Discovery.
5 Simon
Steven Ogg has been widely recognized for playing Trevor Philips in the massively popular video game, Grand Theft Auto V. Ogg continued to play the “crazy guy, the unpredictable guy” in The Walking Dead (via Calgary Herald), playing Negan’s right-hand man, Simon. The power-hungry Savior tried to stage a coup against Negan but was unsuccessful in his attempt. Negan strangled Simon to death, and the Saviors continued to live under Negan’s rule. Because of Simon’s failure, Simon is usually forgotten when The Walking Dead fans think of their favorite villains.
4 Andrea
In The Walking Dead comics, Andrea was a central character who survived more than 160 issues. The television series, however, killed off Andrea in its third season. This was in spite of actress Laurie Holden having an eight-year deal on The Walking Dead and plans to have her character end up with Rick (via Fan Fest). With Andrea dying such an early death in the show, many have forgotten exactly how she died. The Governor was responsible for Andrea’s death, killing the Woodbury scientist Milton Mamet so that Mamet’s reanimated corpse would kill a bound Andrea.
3 Richard
Richard did not have a long series lifespan, but nonetheless was a major character in Season 7 of The Walking Dead. He was a soldier of the Kingdom and one of the people King Ezekiel trusted most. However, Richard harbored a deep hatred toward the Saviors and attempted to sacrifice himself to encourage the Kingdom to fight. His plan went awry and caused the death of the innocent Benjamin. Unable to accept the loss of someone he saw as a son, Morgan Jones abandoned his pacifist lifestyle and killed Richard in retaliation.
2 Jesus
His real name was Paul Rovia, but his friends used to call him “Jesus.” Jesus was a skilled martial artist and combatant, a recruiter, a supply runner, and later a leader, at the Hilltop. His sense of humor and his charm won over fans, but over time, Jesus fell somewhat into the background. Actor Tom Payne expressed his disappointment with the show not adapting the “cool stuff” that Jesus did in the comics (via ComicBook). Payne’s character was stabbed by someone posing as a walker in a foggy graveyard, introducing the threat of the Whisperers.
1 Morales
In the first season of The Walking Dead, Morales served as a supply runner for the survivor camp in Atlanta. Morales decided to split off from the group with his wife and children to find the rest of his family. For seven years, viewers thought that was the last they would see of Morales. But in Season 8, Morales made a surprising return holding Rick at gunpoint. It was revealed that Morales’ family didn’t survive and that Morales had joined the Saviors. Daryl killed Morales without any hesitation, and just like that, Morales left the show as quickly as he had re-entered it.
