Actor Norman Reedus recently suffered a concussion while working on The Walking Dead’s final episodes, but his recovery is going well as he looks forward to returning to work. Ever since his debut in season 1, Reedus has served as one of the show’s most popular stars with his role as survivalist Daryl Dixon. Perhaps in part due to fans consistently threatening to “riot” should The Walking Dead ever kill Daryl, the character is one of very few to have survived the entire show’s run.
Because AMC will likely want to end the series with a bang, things may have gotten pretty physical in the series finale. While it’s unclear how the injury happened, it was reported that Reedus had suffered a concussion, resulting in a filming delay to allow for the actor to safely recover. On Instagram, Reedus posted a new update to thank the fans for the outpouring of support he’s gotten since the news was broken. He also revealed that he’s cleared to return to work on Tuesday to wrap up the series finale with the rest of the cast and crew.

Most of all thank you for the eye in the dark messages I really loved that little cat.”

Norman Reedus Isn’t Done With The Walking Dead Just Yet
AMC
The injury clearly hasn’t gotten Reedus any less excited to get back on the set to wrap up The Walking Dead. He will be continuing to take out walkers for some time to come as well as it has been revealed that he will co-star with Melissa McBride (Carol) in a new spinoff series set to debut in 2023. Reedus has previously teased that this new spinoff will be different from the main series, even with two fan favorites returning as the leads.
“I can’t tell you a whole lot about the spin-off. I can tell you that it won’t look anything like The Walking Dead. It won’t look like an episode of Walking Dead with just Daryl and Carol. It’ll be completely different.”," Reedus said last fall, per IMDb.
Another spinoff that was recently announced is Isle of the Dead, starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan and Lauren Cohan as Maggie. The anthology series Tales of the Walking Dead will tell new stories with each episode, some of which will bring back fan favorites that were killed off on the main show. Fear the Walking Dead is also still going strong with an eighth season on the way. It’s true that The Walking Dead is coming to an end, but the franchise is far from finished.
