Production is moving along well on the anticipated third season of The Witcher as the Netflix series has wrapped filming on the new episodes. It has taken several months to get to this point as The Witcher started rolling cameras on season 3 back in April. There was a snafu in July when star Henry Cavill had to take some time off due to Covid, though that wasn’t as serious as when he was injured on the set of season 2.
The news that season 3 has now been wrapped is now official as it comes straight from showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich. With an Instagram post, Hissrich shared some images with everyone all smiles after finishing filming. Concluding with a photo of a wine glass in hand, Hissrich simply added in the caption, “WRAP.”

Also celebrating is executive producer Steve Gaub. Taking to Instagram, Gaub posted an image of a bookshelf from the set that’s been adorned with a skull and some worn books. Noting the season’s wrap, the producer added in the caption, “And that’s a picture wrap on Season 3 of [The Witcher]!!”

This announcement confirms a recent report by Redanian Intelligence that the season had wrapped filming. According to the outlet, Cavill had sent a letter to the show’s cast and crew members to thank them for the work they had all done together bringing season 3 of The Witcher to life.

“What a season this has been!” the letter reads. “I just wanted to thank you all for your determination and dedication through a tough shoot. Hopefully you can all get some well deserved rest.”
The Witcher Will Return for a Third Season

Based on the original books by Andrzej Sapkowski and developed by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, The Witcher debuted to incredible success on Netflix in 2019. A second season followed in 2021, though the renewal order for season 3 came in months prior. The series also spawned an animated spinoff movie, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, that debuted in 2021. A separate prequel miniseries, dubbed The Witcher: Blood Origin, will arrive later this year on a date yet to be announced.
An official description for season 3 of The Witcher is as follows:
Season 3 of The Witcher does not yet have a premiere date. The first two seasons are available to stream on Netflix.
