You can check out the first look at They Cloned Tyrone below.
They Cloned Tyrone centers on three lifelong friends, who suddenly find themselves at the center of a mind-bending conspiracy. While there are still many mysteries surrounding They Cloned Tyrone, it can no doubt be safely assumed that the movie will involve cloning and someone named Tyrone. A scheme that has likely been orchestrated by the titular “they.” They Cloned Tyrone will follow the trio of companions as they begin to investigate a series of strange happenings in their neighborhood.
Speaking of the three friends, They Cloned Tyrone stars a hugely talented trio in John Boyega (The Woman King, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker), Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx (Ray, Spider-Man: No Way Home), and Teyonah Parris (If Beale Street Could Talk, Candyman), whose characters will be named Fontaine, Slick Charles, and Yo-Yo respectively. Just Mercy actor J. Alphonse Nicholson will also star.
Wider plot descriptions have claimed that the central mystery of They Cloned Tyrone will kick off when Fontaine, a local drug dealer, is killed at the hands of his rival. But rather than stay dead, Fontaine wakes up in his bed the next morning. Thus, Fontaine, Slick Charles and Yo-Yo begin to look into this peculiar incident, with their search leading them to an underground complex where a shady government agency are performing experiments on the Black community.
John Boyega Has Compared They Cloned Tyrone to His 2011 Sci-Fi Comedy Attack the Block
Netflix
John Boyega has since teased the tone of They Cloned Tyrone, comparing it favorably to one of his earlier, similar science fiction capers; the brilliant Attack the Block. “The film is going to be like Attack the Block for stateside, I’ll give you that,” Boyega revealed. “Juel’s making his directorial debut with the movie and he wrote a brilliant script. I mean, you don’t just attract Jamie Foxx with nothing, this is a really well-written one that I think is going to be a lot of fun.”
Released in 2011 and directed by Joe Cornish, Attack the Block follows a group of teenagers who must venture out to battle a savage alien incursion. With the invasive species jeopardizing their vicinity in Southern London, they are forced to band together and fight to save the Earth. Critically acclaimed for its perfect balance of comedy, horror, science fiction trappings, and social commentary, the comparison Boyega makes between They Cloned Tyrone and Attack the Block certainly bodes well for the latter.
Directed by Juel Taylor in his feature film directorial debut, from a screenplay by Taylor and Tony Rettenmaier, They Cloned Tyrone is scheduled to be released on December 30, 2022, by Netflix.
