8 Matt Damon — Loki Actor
Marvel Studios
Matt Damon is easily one of the most famous actors working in Hollywood, having starred in incredible films including Saving Private Ryan, Interstellar, The Martian, The Departed, Ford v Ferrari, and of course Good Will Hunting for which he won his Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. His role in Thor: Love and Thunder was small but very funny, and added to the film’s already comedic nature. Seeing such a huge star like Damon first play the Loki Actor was surprising in Thor: Ragnarok, but definitely an aspect of the film that audiences enjoyed. As such, it was great to see him return for Love and Thunder.

7 Taika Waititi — Korg
Korg played by Taika Watiti is an essential part of Thor: Love and Thunder and a fan favorite throughout the MCU in general. The character has appeared in Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Endgame, and now Thor: Love and Thunder. Aside from Korg being an important part of Thor’s team, aiding him on his journey to stop Gorr the God Butcher, there are a few surprising things that happened to Korg throughout the film. One of these things was the decision to make the character gay, a choice that Waititi said was really beautiful.
6 Russell Crowe — Zeus
Another extremely successful and talented actor who played an important part in Thor: Love and Thunder is Russell Crowe. Best known for his roles in films such as Gladiator, Unchained, and A Beautiful Mind, Crowe stepped into the role of Zeus, God of the Sky for this movie. Thor, Jane, Valkyrie, and Korg travel to ask Zeus and the other gods to help them save the children of Asgard and stop Gorr from ultimately killing all the gods. Zeus shuts down Thor and ultimately tries to belittle him with his power. The film’s first post-credit scene involves Zeus and his son Hercules, leaving fans excited and eager to see what will happen next.
5 Tessa Thompson — Valkyrie
Tessa Thompson plays a major role in the film, Valkyrie the leader of Asgard. Throughout Thor: Love and Thunder, Valkyrie works closely with Thor, Jane, and Korg to stop Gorr and get the Asgardian children home safely after Gorr invaded through his control over shadows and his sword. While this mission is Valkyrie’s main purpose in the movie, we also get a closer look into who she is and some of her struggles in the past, specifically when it comes to relationships. She is quick-witted, powerful, and not afraid to stand up to anyone, which are just a few of the reasons why Thompson’s character is such a great role model for young audiences.
4 India Rose Hemsworth
Audiences may be surprised to find out that the adorable and extremely talented young actress who starred as Gorr’s daughter in the film is actually Chris Hemsworth’s daughter, India Roas Hemsworth, in real life. Director Waititi said having the young Hemsworth play a role in the film wasn’t originally planned, but as Hemsworth continued to talk about the idea of his daughter being involved in the project, the more everyone jumped on board. Despite how young she is, she handled her role beautifully and professionally, which is even more impressive considering what a huge movie Love and Thunder is.
3 Natalie Portman — Jane Foster
Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures
Dr. Jane Foster, played by the incredible Oscar-winning actress Natalie Portman, is one of the few humans in this film. She is extremely bright and has so much to offer the world, but is set back after finding out she has stage four cancer. Instead of accepting her fate, Foster reaches out to the gods for help and becomes a superhero herself. While this seemingly new gift makes her feel more empowered and in control of her life, it is slowly sucking all of her remaining energy, leaving her weaker than ever. During this time, Jane discovers lots about herself and the power of love.
2 Christian Bale — Gorr the God Butcher
The opening scene of Thor: Love and Thunder is of Christian Bale as Gorr suffering from starvation and dehydration in the desert. He is covered in burns and is forced to watch his daughter die in front of him, all because he had faith that the gods would help him, his people, and his daughter. When Gorr discovers that all gods aren’t good and that they couldn’t care less about the deaths of his people, he becomes enraged, and with the help of a cursed sword, promises to end all Gods. This character is more than just a villain: as an audience, we understand how he got to be this way and empathize with what he endured in his past. Bale is one of the best actors working today, and he easily had one of the best performances in all of Love and Thunder.
1 Chris Hemsworth — Thor
There wouldn’t be a Thor movie without the one and only Chris Hemsworth. He is able to play a character in a way where he is funny, charming, goofy, and still one of the strongest and most powerful members of the Avengers. He can be a little oblivious at times, but his heart is always in the right place, and will do almost anything to help someone in danger. In this film and many others in the MCU, Thor is a character that audiences relate to and constantly come back to. There is no one who could play this role quite like Hemsworth and fans are eager to see what will happen next for Thor in the MCU.
