The MCU finally blessed the world with a full Thor: Love and Thunder trailer this past week, and fans have been buzzing over all the details they were given in the short two-minute clip. Jane Foster was officially revealed as Mighty Thor (blonde hair and all), and old favorites like Korg and Valkyrie made multiple appearances, implying that they’ll still have significant roles in the film (still no sign of Loki). A multitude of new characters finally came into the light, including Zeus, who flicked a tad bit too hard. One such character that debuted, and has MCU fans absolutely raving, is Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher.
MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY
In the trailer, Bale is revealed in ghostly-white make-up all over his body with piercing orange eyes and a raspy voice that sends chills down viewers’ backs. In short, Bale was on-screen for about 15 seconds, and it already seems like he could pose a threat as the MCU’s best villain to date.
That being said, one doesn’t receive a title like ‘God Butcher’ without reason, and with the MCU incorporating more and more Gods over their past several projects, it only makes sense that some of them will have been visited by Gorr by the time he debuts in Thor: Love and Thunder. So, the elephant in the franchise needs to be addressed – what other Gods has Gorr killed?
Did Gorr Hunt Sif and/or Surtur Down?
Let’s start with two Gods we’ve already seen in the Thor franchise before – Sif and Surtur. While the two characters might be polar opposites in terms of whom they represent on-screen, they both could be some of the first victims of Gorr and his hunt to rid the universe of Gods.
Sif didn’t make an appearance in Thor 3 (nor in Infinity War or even Endgame), so she was ultimately sparred by Hela and eventually Thanos. But, oddly enough, she did make an appearance in last year’s Loki series, whereupon she was featured torturing Loki in a never-ending loop by repeatedly kneeing him in the groin. While this was a simulation, it could imply that Sif is still alive and out there somewhere in the universe – which means Gorr would be hunting her down.

As for Surtur, the evil being destroyed Asgard and Hela at the conclusion of Thor 3 and hasn’t been seen or heard from since. It certainly wouldn’t be outlandish to think that Surtur would make his way onto Gorr’s list of expendable deities.
Are Celestials or Eternals on Gorr’s Radar?
Speaking of planet-destroying-beings, a Celestial is another prime candidate for one of Gorr’s victims, if not multiple. As revealed in last year’s Eternals film, Celestials are born from planets and use the energy from the life of a planet in order to make the process work. If Gorr comes from a planet ultimately consumed by a Celestial, that will pose as good motivation for why he despises Gods so much.
Even if Gorr didn’t end up killing any Celestials, he could still potentially have gone after an Eternal or two. The main characters from the Eternals movie are absolutely worthy of being on Gorr’s list, and it’s already been shown that they aren’t the only Eternals in the galaxy. Perhaps Gorr was able to stop the Eternals on his home planet from allowing the Resurgence of a Celestial and now holds a vendetta against the rest of them.
All that being said, even if Gorr has no prior ties to any Celestials or Eternals, they’re powerful enough to warrant landing on his radar at some point.
Has Gorr Killed the 9th God of the Ennead?
Far more unlikely than the first two suggestions, but it still needs to be addressed since it’s one of the few remaining Gods that we’ve seen (or haven’t seen) in the MCU. In the recent Moon Knight series on Disney+, the show revolves around the Ancient Egyptian Gods of the Ennead and how they pick Avatars on Earth to help impose their will.

During the first episode of the series, Steven Grant tells the audience that the Ennead houses nine different Gods, and throughout the series, we only meet eight of them. So, it stands to reason that the ninth God of the Ennead is either hiding somewhere out there or has already been killed (perhaps by a God Butcher). All that said, it seems far more likely the 9th God will appear in a future Moon Knight project rather than Thor 4, but we can speculate.
Will New Gods (Hercules, Ares) Be Gorr’s Victims?
One of the best parts of Thor 4 is that it’s introducing some other Gods in the MCU franchise with the inclusion of Russell Crowe as Zeus. So, since the MCU is delving further into the deity pool, it’s only logical that they would start including some other deities in the franchise as well.
Some popular choices could be characters like Hercules and Ares, with several other candidates being viable options. The best part about these characters potentially already being victims of Gorr is that they could be introduced in the same way that Reed Richards was in Doctor Strange 2 – a brief cameo by a notable actor/actress followed by a surprise death would definitely be a way to show how horrifying Gorr can be.
