A new TV spot further teases the exciting events of the upcoming Marvel sequel Thor: Love and Thunder, while a newly released image transports Thor and The Mighty Thor into the “Shadow World” of the villainous Gorr the God Butcher. Released via Twitter, the latest promo offers a few glimpses of new footage from the MCU outing, as Thor allies himself with several heroes, including Jane Foster, who has now emerged as The Mighty Thor.
The latest image from the movie further teases the mysterious Shadow World of Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher. Vowing to destroy the gods after living a life of tragedy and heartache, it seems that Gorr’s presence will suck the vibrant color out of Thor: Love and Thunder as you can see from the new image below.

Thor: Love and Thunder finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi), and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.
The First Reactions to Thor: Love and Thunder Are Now In
The first reactions to Thor: Love and Thunder have now appeared online, with the lucky few who have seen the Marvel movie heaping praise on the action, comedy, and performances from the ensemble cast. “Another classic Thor adventure!” said one reaction, adding that Thor: Love and Thunder “is everything I wanted it to be. Big, colorful, weird Guns N Roses-fueled battles to go w/ a hopelessly romantic story about discovering love in unexpected places. Christian Bale & Russell Crowe are especially great. And Korg!”
Much applause has been aimed at both Natalie Portman as The Mighty Thor and Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher, with some viewers surprised by the level of genuine heart amid the comedy stylings of Taika Waititi and Chris Hemsworth. “THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER is a rockin&great time with electrifying action, lots of laughs (the screaming goats!) & a profound story on absent gods & our desire for love,” said another reaction. “Natalie Portman makes a mighty return & Christian Bale slays it as the terrifying Gorr. The best Thor film yet!”
Of course, it’s not all good news, as some have found Thor: Love and Thunder to be severely lacking in stakes. “#ThorLoveAndThunder is the funniest film in the MCU,” said this early reaction. “The jokes are excellent as is the cast delivering them. Christian Bale, obviously, is also terrifying as #Gorr BUT, the plot felt flat and stakeless. Not sure if that’s a #Thor problem or an MCU-without-a-big-bad problem.”
Directed by Taika Waititi and starring Chris Hemsworth alongside Christian Bale, Tessa Thompson, Jaimie Alexander, Waititi, Russell Crowe, and Natalie Portman, Thor: Love and Thunder will be released in the United States on July 8, 2022, as part of Phase Four of the MCU.
