Tom Holland is taking a break from social media for mental health reasons. The Spider-Man: No Way Home star is one of the most followed personalities on Instagram, with 67.7 million followers, but has been posting infrequently for the past few months.
Holland revealed that he had already been on a social media hiatus until recently but just wanted to properly announce it to his fans and also shed light on stem4, a charity that promotes positive mental health in teenagers. Holland asked fans to support stem4 and The Brothers Trust, a fundraiser set up by Holland’s parents that backs several underknown charities like stem4.

Holland further revealed that he would be permanently deleting Instagram and Twitter, calling them “overstimulating” and “overwhelming.”
“Hello and goodbye… I have been taking a break from social media for my mental health, but felt compelled to come on here to talk about Stem4. Stem4 is one of the many charities The Brothers Trust is extremely proud to support - and I’d like to take a moment to shine a light on their fantastic work.”

Tom Holland isn’t the first celebrity to succumb to the ill effects of social media, and he certainly won’t be the last. The 26-year-old actor has had several memes and campaigns attributed to him, and it appears all that publicity has taken a toll on his mental well-being. Selena Gomez, Kristen Steward, Pete Davidson, Millie Bobby Brown, Jennifer Lawrence, and numerous other celebrities also ditched social media for similar reasons as Holland.
“Hi guys. So I’ve been trying to make this video for about an hour now, and for someone that has spent that las 13, 14 years, however long I’ve been acting…I cannot seem to say what I need to say without ‘um-ing’ and ‘ah-ing’ every five minutes, so I’m gonna try again. I have taken a break from social media for my mental health, because I find Instagram and Twitter to be overstimulating, to be overwhelming, I get caught up and I spiral when I read things about me online, and ultimately, it’s very detrimental to my mental state, so I decided to take a step back and delete the app.”

Hopefully, Holland will find some peace during his break.
Tom Holland Will Play Spider-Man Again But Is Focusing On Other Projects Presently
Spider-Man: No Way Home silenced the “Iron Man Jr.” crowd with its bold ending that established Tom Holland as the classic, tech-free, friendly neighborhood superhero from the comics. As Sony and Marvel contemplate a new trilogy for Spider-Man, Holland is taking a step back from the superhero genre to pursue darker, more challenging roles. He recently headlined Sony’s Uncharted adaptation alongside Mark Wahlberg and will next appear in Apple’s The Crowded Room, a psychological thriller series about a man with multiple personalities. Holland is also attached to star in the Fred Astaire biopic.
As for Spider-Man 4, reports are also circulating on the internet that work has begun on the film, but Holland has yet to officially sign on. Director Jon Watts is also moving away from superhero films and decided to helm Star Wars: Skeleton Crew instead of Marvel’s Fantastic Four reboot. Zendaya, too, is busy with Euphoria and Dune. Sony has confirmed that they expect the trio and Jacob Batalon to return, so it’ll be a few years before we get another Spider-Man movie.
