The adrenaline rush we get when we watch the newest action movies in theaters is something that can only be executed by the cast, crew, and directors. Actors who take part in action movies have an increasingly daunting task of executing the emotions running through their characters during intense action sequences and the physical demands of the roles themselves. Especially in the newer generation of big-name actors, there are none playing a more active role in performing their own stunts than Tom Holland.

Holland has made himself a star in the realm of action films, and that could be traced back to his earlier years as an actor. Of course, we are very familiar with Holland and his role as Peter Parker / Spider-Man in the MCU, a franchise that relies heavily on some entertaining action sequences. However, did you know that Holland was actually partaking in performing his own stunts? Also, in the 2022 film Uncharted, Holland claims to have performed the most challenging stunt in his career. 7 The Opening Sequence — Spider-Man: No Way Home

Peter and MJ’s relationship was one of the many highlights of the iconic Spider-Man: No Way Home. The opening sequence of the movie showed Spider-Man and MJ swinging through the streets of New York while everyone is filled in on his true identity. We are all aware that Holland is very hands-on when it comes to performing his own stunts. However, we were all laughing out loud when Zendaya teased Holland on The Graham Norton Show about their height difference, when she mentioned her landing before him when performing these swinging stunts.

6 Fight with the Elementals — Spider-Man: Far From Home

Spider-Man: Far From Home was one of the first projects to release after the events of Avengers: Endgame and people were waiting in agonizing anticipation surrounding what was supposed to come next in the MCU. Well, Holland’s Spider-Man was a great way to go. There are many action sequences to pick and choose from in this movie, but the fight against the Elementals was one of the best. Before the movie came out, Holland revealed some hilarious teasers surrounding this movie that showed his stunt double getting decked by a massive wave of water. Of course, most of these fight scenes featured Holland in them in order to keep certain moves authentic to his actual body movements.

5 Washington Monument — Spider-Man: Homecoming

Holland’s first-ever leading superhero film was Spider-Man: Homecoming, and since then, he has easily become a fan favorite in the entire MCU franchise. Holland definitely showed off his physical abilities in the stunts in this film. They actually recreated the top part of the Washington Monument in order for Holland to safely perform the stunts in this part of the film. With his impressive background in gymnastics, the actor was incredibly comfortable performing flips, tricks, and stunts that would be physically demanding for the average person. Scaling up and breaking into the top of the Washington Monument in this movie is just one of them.

4 The Tsunami — The Impossible

The Impossible is more of a disaster drama than an action film, but Holland’s ability to perform stunts is showcased incredibly here. At the young age of 14, Holland starred in the 2012 disaster film The Impossible. During the scene when the massive tsunami is meant to hit the resort, Holland’s character jumps into the nearby pool as the water washes in plants and other debris. Incredibly, Holland was able to jump into the pool in just a few takes.

3 The Elevator Scene — Spider-Man: Homecoming

Now back to Spider-Man: Homecoming, there are many stunts that are perfect representations of the MCU Spider-Man and a lot of that can be credited to Holland’s ability and willingness to participate in some of these stunts. When some of Peter’s classmates get stuck in an elevator in the Washington Monument, Peter is tasked with making sure that they do not fall to their deaths. Spider-Man holds up the falling elevator hanging on by a web using his entire body to hold up the weight.

2 The Airport Fight — Captain America: Civil War

Holland made his MCU debut as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War. Introducing this character into the MCU was a tall order for any actor, but Holland’s ability to bring parts of Spider-Man to life at such a high level of authenticity made him an instant favorite. The airport fight in the movie had Spider-Man going head to head with some of the MCU’s strongest heroes like Captain America, The Falcon, and Hawkeye. Holland’s ability to perform many of these stunts and action sequences has continuously brought something special to this franchise.

1 The Plane — Uncharted

Uncharted is the movie where Holland said he performed his most difficult stunt in his career so far, as reported by Cinemablend. Therefore, of course it is included in our list. Uncharted is a 2022 action adventure movie that stars Holland, Mark Wahlberg, Sophia Taylor Ali, and Antonio Banderas. Now, this movie is packed with some incredible action sequences. However, this one in partiular might have to take the cake: Holland falls out of an airplane and on the way out, he gets hit…by a car. Holland impressively performs this stunt himself instead of using a stint double, and he goes into detail on the physical toll this took on his body to get hit over and over again until they had just the right shot. If this doesn’t show his dedication as an actor, we don’t know what will.
