MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY
It was previously revealed that Phoebe Waller-Bridge had been hired to write the Tomb Raider series, lobbying for the job as a fan of the franchise. However, she is not attached to the film or video game in any way at this time, and seem to be focusing solely on the TV show. It’s also been noted that Waller-Bridge isn’t going to play Lara Croft in the series, limiting her involvement to a behind-the-scenes role. There’s no word yet on who could end up playing the role of the iconic adventurer, who has been played by Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander in previous live-action adaptations.
Tomb Raider Gets Rebooted for a New Cinematic Universe
Warner Bros.
Tomb Raider spawned with the original video game in 1996. The video game struck a chord with gamers, launching a franchise with continued popularity. With ambitious plans for an all-new cinematic universe that will branch a Tomb Raider story across film, TV, and video games, perhaps the franchise still has yet to hit its peak, but fans will just have to wait and see how it all turns out when the video game adaptation arrives in its various forms. Will this be a response to The Last of Us becoming such a hit on HBO?
