Another major character from That ’70s Show has been confirmed for the spinoff series, That ’90s Show. Currently in development at Netflix, That ’90s Show takes viewers back to Wisconsin to revisit many of the same characters from That ’70s Show, but in an entirely different decade. Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp are a part of the starring cast to reprise their classic roles as Red and Kitty Forman.
It appears that Tommy Chong is the next cast member to join the spinoff. In That ’70s Show, Chong played Leo, the resident hippie and World War II vet who once employed Hyde (Danny Masterson) as the owner of a Foto Hut. Many fans were hoping Leo would be making an appearance in That ’90s Show, and Chong himself has confirmed that he’s coming back, though he wonders if he let the cat out of the bag a little too early.

That ’90s Show Brings Back Many Fan Favorites
Netflix
Of course, we know that Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp are also returning, as the couple appears in the only official image that has been released by Netflix of the upcoming series. However, it has also been announced that most of the original cast will be joining them, all reprising their classic roles. Confirmed to return are Topher Grace as Eric, Laura Prepon as Donna, Ashton Kutcher as Kelso, Mila Kunis as Jackie, and Wilmer Valderrama as Fez. Danny Masterson is not coming back as Hyde, likely due to his real-life legal problems.
The new cast includes Callie Haverda as Leia Forman, Eric and Donna’s daughter, as well as Ashley Aufderheide, Mace Coronel, Maxwell Acee Donovan, Reyn Doi, and Sam Morelos. Introducing a new cast of young characters suggests that the previous cast members will only be showing up for special appearances in a recurring capacity rather than in starring roles as they had before. The exception would be Smith and Rupp as Red and Kitty, as the Formans will now have to deal with their granddaughter and her friends. You can read the official synopsis for the series below.
That ’90s Show does not yet have an official premiere date but is expected to arrive on Netflix later this year. The series is currently filming.
