The sequel to Tubi’s Terror Train is moving full steam ahead with a streaming release coming in before the end of the year. Tubi has officially announced that the streamer is collaborating with Incendo for Terror Train 2, a follow-up to the remake of the 1980 slasher film that premiered this past October for the Halloween season. It wasn’t clear when that film was released that it would be getting a sequel, especially one coming so soon after the first one.

While Terror Train 2 introduces a brand new storyline, it’s connected to the prior movie with Robyn Alomar (Utopia Falls) and Tom Rozon (Schitt’s Creek) returning to reprise their roles. Part 2 is set more than a year after the events of Terror Train with the survivors still reeling from the impact of the vicious murders. Hoping to face their fears, they are coerced into boarding the very same train for a New Year’s Eve redemption ride, unaware that a new evil awaits them ahead of another battle to stay alive.

Speaking about the sequel, Tubi’s CCO, Adam Lewinson, said in a statement: “Our remake reintroduced a new generation to Terror Train, and now Tubi’s first ever horror sequel expands on the premise with a completely original storyline. This new ride aboard the Terror Train begins on New Year’s Eve with ‘Final Girl’ Alana and the mysterious Magician facing a new menace in this horror whodunit.”

“Horror-genre franchises have proven time and time again to be some of the most successful film brands,” adds executive producer Brook Peters of Incendo. “In the sequel, we’re thrilled to offer horror fans a seamless and terrifying continuation of the story that also pays a themed-tribute to the original 1980 cult classic.”

Ian Carpenter and Aaron Martin (Slasher) returned to pen the screenplay for Terror Train 2 after writing the previous movie. Philippe Gagnon (Amber Alert) is also back in the director’s chair. Graham Ludlow and Kaleigh Kavanagh produced while Ludlow executive produced with Shari Segal and Brook Peters.

When the Terror Train remake premiered in October, it reached the No. 1 spot on Tubi, which has also seen a growth to the tune of 60% for its year-to-year viewership for its “Terror on Tubi” Halloween celebration. The first Terror Train remains available for streaming for fans to check out before watching the sequel this coming New Year’s Eve, and the original film that the remake is based on is also currently available on Tubi.

The original Terror Train featured iconic scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis in one of her very first roles alongside Ben Johnson and David Copperfield. The film has become a cult classic and is popular with many horror fans. Roger Spottiswood directed that version which was written by T.Y. Drake. That movie was never given a sequel or follow-up before Tubi’s remake.

Terror Train 2 will start streaming on Tubi on Dec. 31, 2022, after wrapping production in Monreal. You can stream the film for free at Tubi.tv.
