Because the announcement that Bruce Willis was stepping away from acting came about as a surprise, the filmmakers who had worked with him on his final films had no idea at the time they were a part of the veteran actor’s curtain call. It’s a bit surreal for director Jared Cohn, who worked with Willis on the new Redbox film Vendetta. Written and directed by Cohn, the film features Willis in one of his very last roles and is set to be released on May 17, 2022.

Vendetta is a revenge movie that follows a man seeking vengeance against the person who killed his daughter, and Willis plays the killer’s father. After filming was wrapped, it was announced that Willis had suddenly retired from acting following a diagnosis of aphasia, a disorder that affects speech and one’s ability to communicate. Cohn opened up on working with Willis in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, where he described how much of an honor it was to collaborate with the iconic actor.
