Vision may be returning to the MCU in his own Disney+ series. The WandaVision spinoff event, tentatively titled Vision Quest, would follow the White Vision we saw at the end of the series. The WandaVision spinoff would tell stories of how this new Vision, created by S.W.O.R.D., would regain his identity as Vision or become an entirely new individual.
The series would likely have some similarities to the Vision Quest Marvel Comics of the same name and might have the potential to revive Wanda Maximoff and bring in new Marvel characters. If true, Vision Quest is an exciting MCU announcement and could mean many changes for Marvel.

Fans will find that, although it only took a moment for Vision to fly off at the end of WandaVision, the consequences of another Vision on the loose could be phenomenal. Unlike the previous Vision, this robot has no Mind Stone to guide him, and despite the memories of the previous Vision, isn’t under the control of Tony Stark or S.W.O.R.D. It’s a super powerful android with no moral compass or purpose to fulfill. Vision Quest could take a look at White Vision and ask not just what it means to be sentient but also what it means to be a hero.
The Story of the White Vision
Marvel Studios
At the end of WandaVision, Wanda brought her idea of Vision face to face with himself. This other version of Vision, accurately dubbed White Vision due to his completely blank body, had been created by S.W.O.R.D. in order to control their very own sentient superweapon. This White Vision was increasingly aggressive and, at first, only believed that he was a powerful robot designed for S.W.O.R.D.’s purposes.
But then Wanda’s memory of Vision confronted him with a famous thought experiment: the ship of Theseus. The experiment is one supposed by Plutarch that asks the question of whether a thing with all of its parts replaced is still the original thing. For example, he used a ship in Athens that was said to be the original ship of Theseus, preserved for thousands of years. As the wood of the ship was decayed and had been replaced, Plutarch wondered if it was still possible to say if the ship in Athens was the original ship.
Vision posed this question to White Vision, noting that he has all of the original parts and his mind cannot be deleted, though government officials had tried. When Wanda’s Vision freed White Vision’s consciousness, sending his memories flooding back to him, he suddenly realized who he really was. The last words we heard him say were, “I am Vision,” and he flew off, creating this loose end for a possible spinoff.
There are a lot of possibilities for a story following the White Vision. In the comics, the “Vision Quest” story arc happens across ten issues of The West Coast Avengers. It’s quite different from what the state of the MCU might look like now, but the premise of the comics is the same. Vision is kidnapped, has his memory wiped, and must go on a journey to discover his true nature. He also finds out the truth about his children and his relationship with Wanda as well.
What Might Happen in the Disney+ Series?
Vision Quest has much potential, not just from the comics alone. The storyline could bring the West Coast Avengers into the MCU, and along with introducing some new heroes to the universe, it could bring back some old ones we’ve only got glimpses at, as well. Big MCU fans will also see this as another opportunity for the world to bring back Wanda Maximoff.
Kevin Feige famously pointed out that Wanda’s body was never found at the end of Doctor Strange 2, and the Scarlet Witch has gained her own little cult following since the premier of WandaVision. It’s quite possible that making this series would give Marvel another chance to explore Wanda’s character as well as look at her two children.
A Vision Quest series would also answer quite a few questions about Vision. This recovered body of Tony Stark’s perfected robotic sentience might have a lot more inside it than just a lot of advanced technology. The body may have been altered by S.W.O.R.D. to be slightly different. Also, without the Mind Stone, Vision’s consciousness is generated organically, more or less.
White Vision’s encounter at the end of WandaVision was with a magical version of himself. That other Vision was one created by Wanda’s chaos magic – an element of the Marvel Universe we don’t fully understand as MCU viewers. The part of White Vision’s consciousness that was unlocked was technically accessed by a piece of Wanda’s magic. This might have some unforeseeable consequences for a robot that thinks it’s completely manufactured by computers.
Series Rumors
Though no official announcement has been made for a series, it remains one of the MCU’s biggest unresolved plot points and would no doubt be a popular spinoff. The series rumor comes to us from Jeff Sneider’s podcast, The Hot Mic. If you don’t want to watch the whole episode, the gossip was summarized by RadioTimes.
