Fallout Is Set in a Post-Apocalyptic Wasteland

Fallout’s title refers to a nuclear fallout, as the story is set in a world ravaged by nuclear warfare. With the Great War starting in the 1950s, much of the imagery and music is themed to fit the era as survivors traverse through a wasteland filled with people, mutants, and a variety of creatures looking to bring them harm. Fans have been wanting a live-action adaptation for years before the gears finally got turning on this adaptation at Prime Video.

Perhaps what helped Fallout make some traction was video game adaptations rising in popularity in recent years. Sonic the Hedgehog and Detective Pikachu were both pretty big hitters at the box office while Mortal Kombat pulled in the highest viewership of every major movie released to HBO Max in 2021. The time might be right for Fallout to get into the mix, especially with so many fans spending years waiting for this adaptation.

Fallout does not have a release date set, but the series will begin production in 2022.
