Marvel’s Werewolf by Night has been one of their most secretive projects to date, but with the special now having both a trailer and release date, more information is coming to light about the horror homage piece. Following the trailer reveal by Marvel Studios during the D23 Expo on Saturday, Moon Knight and WandaVision writer Peter Cameron has confirmed that he was co-writer of the newest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Having previously worked on two episodes of the previous shows, Werewolf by Night sees Cameron sharing writing credit with Heather Quinn, who has worked on many Marvel projects in the past, including Hawkeye. Cameron confirmed his involvement in the project via his Twitter account in response to a post by director Michael Giacchino, who takes the helm of his first Marvel project.

The Werewolf by Night project began to be fleshed out even before Marvel had officially revealed any details about it, with Giacchino teasing the special in a recent interview with Comicbook.com. In that interview, he said:
“I’ve been having a blast. It’s an incredibly challenging process. I love it. Everyday, I’ve been having fun working on it and we’re int he middle of it. Hopefully, very soon we’ll share a lot more about it. Yeah. There’s not much I can’t say other than I’m having a good time and I am working on something that I love. So, that’s a win-win right there.”
Werewolf by Night Dips Deeper in Marvel’s Horror Offerings
Marvel / Disney
There has already been a hint of horror in the Marvel Cinematic Universe thanks to both Moon Knight and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Werewolf by Night is next to try out the boundaries of Marvel’s darker side. Unlike anything that has come before it, though, Werewolf by Night seems to be adopting a brand new visual style by paying homage to the classic horror movies of Universal and Hammer, as has been seen in the black and white trailer released on Saturday.
The synopsis for Werewolf by Night reads:
Led by Gael García Bernal, with Laura Donnelly in support, Werewolf by Night looks set to be one of the most interesting Disney+ offerings to come from Marvel Studios this year, and having been described as “scary, but fun scary” by Kevin Feige, the special presentation is undoubtedly going to be one of the highlights of a packed Halloween season on Disney+. It is currently unknown whether Werewolf by Night will directly be linked to any other Marvel shows or movies, but with the special coming on October 7, there is not long to wait.
“On a dark and somber night, a secret cabal of monster hunters emerge from the shadows and gather at the foreboding Bloodstone Temple following the death of their leader,” the synopsis reads. “In a strange and macabre memorial to the leader’s life, the attendees are thrust into a mysterious and deadly competition for a powerful relic—a hunt that will ultimately bring them face to face with a dangerous monster.”
