Universal Pictures has hired Wanted screenwriters Derek Haas and Michael Brandt for Wanted 2. Here’s what Derek Haas had to say through his Twitter account earlier today.
We reported way back in April 2009 that Evan Spiliotopoulos was hired to draft a script for Wanted 2. It seems the studio is going back to the original Wanted writers for the sequel. Here’s what Derek Haas added in an interview about the project.
“Michael and I were just hired by Uni to write Wanted 2.”
Derek Haas also said he isn’t sure if Timur Bekmambetov will return to direct the sequel. He did, however, reveal a few details about the Wanted 2 plot.
“We just always loved the Wanted world and loved working with Universal and (director) Timur (Bekmambetov) on the first one, so we’re excited.”
It has not been confirmed yet that James McAvoy will return as Wesley. No production schedule was given for Wanted 2.
“Wanted 2 is going to take off after the events of what just happened. Pick up Wesley a few years later and go back in for another round.”
