Reportedly, there wasn’t any “emergency meeting” held at Warner Bros. concerning Ezra Miller’s recent arrest over an altercation in a bar in Hawaii. Recently, there have been several doubts clouding over Ezra Miller’s future in the DC Extended Universe after the actor was arrested in Hawaii after he apparently got “unruly” in a bar while being on vacation in Hawaii. After news of Miller’s arrest broke, speculations of his ties with Warner Bros. entering a limbo arose on social media. Later, it was reported that Warner Bros. had been considering putting any future project on hold that featured the actor, even leading the studio to hold an emergency meeting to decide on Miller’s future with them, given the backlash his casting may receive from fans after the incident.

However, now, early sources claiming that the said “emergency meeting” took place to decide on Miller’s involvement in future WB projects have rebuked the previous statement. According to IGN (via ComicBook.com), the studio has debunked every claim of such a meeting. There is still no concrete evidence of what has gone behind closed doors at Warner Bros. Still, it’s probable that the studio may have discussed something after the fans tweeted heavily about the incident and Miller’s arrest.
Warner Bros. had recently severed ties with Johnny Depp after a court ruled against him in a domestic violence case and replaced him with Mads Mikkelsen in Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. It proves that the studio takes such incidences seriously, given how fans’ reactions are aggressive toward such actions on the part of celebrities and actors. The recent Will Smith’s “slap controversy” at this year’s Oscars has gotten the actor in huge trouble, even after he publicly apologized for the incident.
Warner Bros. DCEU Needs Ezra Miller For Now
Ezra Miller’s position in Warner Bros. projects is far more significant than any other actor right now. Firstly the actor plays an important role in the DC Extended Universe, where he portrays Barry Allen/The Flash. Having appeared in five DCEU projects, including Zack Snyder’s Justice League, plus a cameo in Peacemaker, the actor is finally going to head his own film, Andy Muschietti’s The Flash. The Flash is an essential entry in the DCEU, which is being said to change course for the franchise, somehow rewriting its events, and even bringing back Michael Keaton’s Batman from the titular 1989 film.
Given that the film has almost wrapped up filming and is moving on to VFX work, sacking Miller from the franchise would be a massive loss for the studio, which is looking toward The Flash as a revival for DCEU and turn it into a more profitable investment. Though there have been fan requests to replace Miller with Grant Gustin, who plays the character in The CW series, considering how deeply Miller is involved in the project, focusing on such a request seems far-fetched.
Besides DCEU, Miller is also co-starring in the Fantastic Beasts series set in the Wizarding World. The film was released in the UK on April 8, just a couple of days after Miller’s altercation in Hawaii, making it impossible for the studio to even make a decision on Miller’s involvement in the film. There is a possibility of the film’s business being affected due to Miller’s recent incident, but there’s hardly anything the studio can do about it when the film is so near the worldwide release.
As of now, neither Warner Bros. nor Miller’s spokesperson or reps has given any official statement on the matter, but given the seriousness of the incident, it’s likely that there could be a significant inquiry within the studio concerning Miller and his future at Warner Bros. and to its extension, DC Extended Universe.
