If there’s one thing we know for sure about Wednesday Addams, it’s that she is not afraid to hurt anyone’s feelings. And actually, she probably enjoys it. Considering she comes from one of the most unique families in tv and film history, it seems only natural.

Her dark nature and coldhearted wit can lead to some pretty entertaining interactions, regardless of if she’s talking to an enemy or a friend. Here, we look back at some of Wednesday’s most savage comebacks and celebrate that we weren’t on the receiving end.

10 “I did the world a favor. People like Dalton should not be allowed to procreate.” (Wednesday, 2022)

     Netflix

We start our list with the opening scene of Netflix’s new series, Wednesday. Wednesday is seen dropping piranhas into the pool of her brother’s bullies. The piranhas attack one of the main bullies, Dalton, leaving him with some pretty bad injuries. Wednesday avenges her little brother and expresses little remorse for the bullies, rightfully so.

9 “Remember Bethany. I’m not locked here with you, you’re locked here with me.” (The Addams Family, 2019)

     Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer

In 2019’s The Addams Family, Wednesday is again faced with a bully, this time a snobby girl named Bethany. When Bethany picks a fight with Wednesday at school, she immediately shuts her down with what she knows best: fear. Bethany was so spooked by Wednesday’s words and her menacing glare, she backed down from a fight and left Wednesday alone.

8 “Is that your overbite?” (Addams Family Values, 1993)

     Paramount Pictures

When the Addams children are sent to Camp Chippewa in Addams Family Values, Wednesday finds herself annoyed by another camper named Amanda. When Amanda criticizes Wednesday’s somber swimwear, being that she’s in her usual all-black instead of the standard orange suit, she responds by insulting Amanda’s appearance. That definitely got her to shut her mouth!

7 “Are they made from real Girl Scouts?” (The Addams Family, 1991)

When a snarky girl scout approaches Wednesday at her lemonade stand in The Addams Family movie, she asks if the beverage is made from real lemons. After going on for way too long about her dietary restrictions, she asks Wednesday to buy some of her cookies. Wednesday responds, implying that she also has some dietary restrictions of her own, ultimately causing the bratty girl to leave without a drink or a cookie sale.

6 “For the record, I don’t believe I’m better than everyone else. Just that I’m better than you.” (Wednesday, 2022)

During the Poe Cup boat race, Wednesday goes head-to-head in a competition with her nemesis Bianca. Here, Wednesday asserts her superiority and Bianca definitely deserved it; after antagonizing Wednesday non-stop since her arrival at the school, Wednesday was rightfully out for revenge. In the end, Bianca was put in her place.

5 “Be afraid. Be very afraid.” (Addams Family Values, 1993)

When Morticia introduces the children to their new nanny, Miss Jellinski, Wednesday is less than pleased. Morticia prompts them to say hello, to which Wednesday, in standard Wednesday fashion, greets her with a threat. I’m sure after that encounter, Miss Jellinski did not want to stay much longer in the Addams household.

4 “Does it matter?” (The Addams Family, 1991)

When Wednesday and her brother Pugsley are seen standing over the graves of Tully Alford and Dr. Greta Pinder-Schloss, Pugsley asks his sister if the two are really dead. Wednesday clearly doesn’t seem to care either way. This line perfectly captures who Wednesday is as a character, making it one of the higher ranking entires on this list.

3 “I don’t believe in heaven or hell. But I do believe in revenge. I usually serve it warm with a side of pain.” (Wednesday, 2022)

Spoiler alert! When she comes face to face with the statue of Joseph Crackstone, Wednesday admits to feeling scared. Knowing who he is and what he did only pushes Wednesday to avenge the people impacted by his actions. This threat is one of the driving forces behind Wednesday’s journey throughout the season; the desire for revenge only makes Wednesday’s stronger.

2 “All your life.” (Addams Family Values, 1993)

     Paramount Pictures / Columbia Pictures

This is the second entry from Wednesday’s stay at camp Chippewa with Amanda. When their counselor asks for a volunteer to play the victim and fake-drown in the lake, Amanda happily volunteers. This leads Wednesday to claim she wouldn’t just be playing the victim in the lake, but would be doing so her entire life: ouch!

1 “I’d pity him.” (Addams Family Values, 1993)

Wednesday’s most savage comeback might also be one of her shortest. When Joel and Wednesday have a moment alone, Joel asks what she thinks about marriage and who she’d want to marry. When Joel begins describing the perfect man, who loves her and falls at her feet, Wednesday isn’t flattered, and instead she offers him pity. Never change, Wednesday. Never change.
